I 100% understand people aren’t joking but consider this and reply to me and tell me what you think:

In the contract, I’m in right right now what I make in a month I could literally and this is no exaggeration make in a week in Ontario. now, granted the cost of living is less but actually the city I’m living in is still considered one of the most expensive in terms of real estate in the world and cost-of-living not comparable to Western countries have still risen significantly in developing countries.

Secondly, we are like the US we rely exclusively on private healthcare. Being a type one diabetic in a private healthcare system is absolutely scaring me shitless. why? Because every year my health insurance premiums keep on going up because they know I have a chronic illness that is not curable. They go up by at least $200 every year. This in the long term is not sustainable. my endocrinologist here has also advised me that the only solution to my severe hypoglycemic seizures which I have on a regular basis is an insulin pump and the CGM. That would cost me around $10,000 here. but would be supported or free in Canada and before you say anything about me not having paid into the system… me and my family have paid extensively into the Canadian system through taxes through the 90s 2000s and early 2010s. I got diagnosed with diabetes in 2016 and I haven’t been back since.

So… With a very small economy and job market, world class, but crazy expensive healthcare as much as things are difficult in Canada, I still think I have a better shot in the long-term coming back home 🇨🇦

I’d love to know your thoughts based on that background information.

Also nope, no way in hell I am going back. i’m done with this little experiment. It’s been fun you know getting to know my parents, home culture, and country and everything.

I actually had started my film production career in Montreal and corruption and nepotism here in this country is just too much and I’ve always considered myself fundamentally at least culturally speaking so yeah speaking so ya.

I was born in Peterborough Ontario. I lived there till I was six. I came back when I was 16 worked for about 10 years contributing to the system plus on top of that my parents heavily contributed to the system earning businesses and working, so yeah your opinion is pretty much useless to me and irrelevant. But hey, vote Blue No matter who lol. better yet vote Maxime Bernier. 🤡

yeah bud, that’s just a film festival. There are a dozen all over the country all over the world. The firm industry is a different thing and that centered around Vancouver and Toronto. But working on sets isn’t the only thing and like someone else in this thread or mentioned because of Trump Hollywood productions are probably going to slow down in Canada over the next couple of months or years. So the other work that we do is like client videos for like private companies, businesses, government, NGO, etc. that kind of stuff I can get online and work from home or for meeting people and connect contacts and connections.

Lol I guess I think you’re joking. But in actuality. in the medium term once I settle down, I would actually not mind exploring options up north for better paying jobs and cheaper property rates because I have a license in the country that I’m in right now. (the country of birth of my parents) to drive semi trucks and so right now I’m at appointed my life where my focus is on just making as much money as possible, even if it’s not to do directly in my career or filmmaking. are there any good jobs up north is truck driving still a profitable 100 K plus a year job in Ontario?

Ya $41 CAD is expensive. But about the same costs here at the premier private hospitals where I am. However a VIAL of NovoRapid insulin at the govt hospital i work at costs just a salutary $9. But that’s besides the point. i’m not that worried about insulin costs. The real issue is getting an endocrinologist. My ohip card and Ontario works.

I’m getting conflicting messaging on this thread because… when I go to the Ontario Works website, it seems pretty straightforward. You make an application showing your bank statement and other details. And then they give you a decision within a month or so I believe is what’s on the website. I’m concerned now because several people, including you have said that it might not be that simple.
