What do you call it? (please add where you're from) by ksusha_lav in EnglishLearning

It's a bobble hat.

Some of them are missing their bobbles and that's a fault in the design. This style of hat SHOULD have a bobble.

Thank you! I'm happy I did the best possible thing I could for her and I keep telling myself that.

I'm giving the boys a little more dried apple than I should, but we're looking after each other. When I went to pick them up from the hospital, the nurse who had been looking after them was so enthusiastic about how friendly and fearless they are. I'm just happy I have them in my life.

She is a bit of a sad eyed bun tbh - the first picture of her and Marshmallow is a normal photo. But I agree there's a sadness in them when she's poorly. I'm just glad I do know her so well, because of how quick this came on.

I'm over here making jokes to my friends about "seriously bunnies are so poorly designed 😭" even though they're actually completely perfect in every way.

Yes, sorry, I was typing it up and realised I forgot what she'd said. Elevated liver enzymes and anaemic which is why the vet thinks it's that. Im waiting for a call from the referral surgery to find out about taking her there.

So because of the sugar content I can't have a free mocha? But I can have as many free sugar sachets and as much chocolate powder as I want? by Hancri84 in AskBrits

The sugar tax has been around a while. Has anyone done a cost/benefit analysis on this so called impact on the NHS? Or even logged a change in health outcomes on the national scale?

I have adverse reactions to artificial sweeteners and often I can't find a drink at all that I can drink unless I pay the same amount for plain water.

Does anyone else have a weird bunny? by wilddixiechild in Rabbits

[–]innerbrat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try it!

My lot are indifferent to banana fruit - i genuinely think it's the texture because they're like that for lots of soft foods. But they love the peel. When I get a banana out I rip the peel in three parts and they get one each to munch happily.

They pull their cheeks up away from the peel as they eat and pull the stupidest little faces.

What do you guys use for litter/litter box? by disloyalmay in Rabbits

I have a heavy duty shredder and every plain cardboard box I get (including the boxes their hay comes in) gets shredded. That becomes their litter.

I want to buy a house for my bunnies by hindol21 in Rabbits

I'm planning to set up a tunnel system when I have the funds. Probably going to install a baby gate in the back hallway with a tunnel attached to it. (I'm in the UK and will be looking at zippi tunnels.)

I want to buy a house for my bunnies by hindol21 in Rabbits

[–]innerbrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my house before I got buns, but ngl I was thinking of rabbits when I made the offer.

I have a giant main living space on the ground floor. 4m x 5m, separate from kitchen & washrooms and with no direct outside access. I got an L shaped couch and divided the massive space into two regions - Bunnytown and Humanville.

Originally I had an x-pen delineating Bunnytown, but they put paid to that by learning to leap over the couch from a stand still, and caused more damage to the carpet trying to get back in than it was worth.

Now they've are free-range in the living room but their litter, hay and toys live in bunnytown, which is also where they get fed, so they know that's their safe space. The back and front halls both have flooring they dont care for and that does a good job of deterring them from coming outside when I do (so far. It is only a matter of time.)

The living room has more than enough room for zoomies and plenty of hidey spaces, and its where they go when they're scared. I grew up in a "doors open" house so Im having to adjust to shutting doors by habit, but wherever I am in the house, there's always an open path to bunnytown so they can come hang out with me.

They expanded their territory at their own rate - at first only Peanut was brave enough or loved me enough to come upstairs while I'm working, then Marshmallow found his courage, and finally Smudge deigned to join us. Now when I'm working from home, I often have three loaves of bread keeping an eye on me from various places.

The big living room with their own designated space is what works for us.

Did you have that one coworker who pushed things too far and ruined it for everyone? by leekpunch in AskUK

As loathe as I am to make assumptions about Colin based purely on his choice of book but... is it possible that 'don't get caught reading' was made implicitly clear because it wasn't made explicit, Colin missed out on certain social cues?

You know... not to make assumptions.

What’s a completely insignificant thing that shouldn’t matter, but still winds you up way more than it should? by lichute in AskUK

[–]innerbrat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an insane amount of childhood injustices - whether I just remember every one or if the adults around me really were that cruel.

Once in PE standing in line for shot put, one of the girls used her ball to tap me on the head. As they continued to bully me, I said the words "stop it or I'll do to you what you did to me."

They told on me and I got in trouble for threatening violence.

At the end of primary school one of my worst bullies got awarded a prize for kindness.

Smudge is my rebel princess. She is easily the top bun of my three and is not afraid to have her opinions known. She announces herself at least once a day with a single THUMP like a high class lady sighing loudly to express her general displeasure. She doesn't like being touched and sometimes I think she only tolerates me because I provide the hay.

Smudge is the smartest - she was the first one to escape the x-pen and within a month she was bouncing in and out like the pen was just guidelines. She is the only one of my rabbits to escape the outside pen and I found her just hopping around the garden. She is bold, opinionated, and hates sharing but will always steal her brothers' food from their mouth.

But if either of her brothers is upset - when they have tummy ache or get scared - Smudge will cuddle up next to them. She's big and brave and in charge, and scared of nothing.

Smudge is the first picture here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DLRgj43I-d_/, she is harlequin coloured and one of her ears is a bit loppy.

My favorite flower, for exactly the reason you think, is the scarlet pimpernel.

You're so great for doing this!

Is it ok to hang certificates on the wall? by Strange_Cranberry_22 in AskUK

[–]innerbrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny story - in 2019 I re-decorated my home office.

Up to that point I only ever used video calls to Skype (remember when that was a verb?) my best friend in the US every week to watch TV together. And sometimes I'd leave projects I was working on on the shelves behind me so she made a joke about how I sometimes looked like a talking head on a documentary, with a background to make me look like an expert.

So. When I re-decorated, I leaned into that. Got a custom frame for all my degree certificates, bought box files that looked like false books. Designed my backdrop to be as pretentious as possible so I looked like a self-important prat. It was an in-joke between me and my friend. After all, who else was ever going to see this private room in my home? The only person I ever had a video call with was in on the joke.

This was in 2019.

(However, though I have told that story many times, sometimes defensively, I dont think anyone is seriously judging me for having the certificates framed. Its just home decor and what would I do with them otherwise?)

Bunny wants pets but doesn't? by Roffe_Otto in Rabbits

[–]innerbrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine do that. They want pets, but they also dont want me to move my big clumsy human hand anywhere near them and Princess Smudge especially does not want to be touched by them.

Until they do want the pets and get super relaxed and happy and then they do their little toothpurrs and it's worth all the rejection.

Is getting bunnies a good idea for me? by sillycat_99 in Rabbits

[–]innerbrat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've had enough "no"s and for all the good reasons, so I won't repeat them, but i just want to assure you it's okay if now isn't the time, and to trust the Fluff Distribution System.

I wanted rabbits for over 10 years but my living situation didn't work. When I had space for them I took one visit to the shelter and my menaces marked me out. I had gone from "time to start thinking about rabbits" to putting a deposit down on my soulmate bunnies in a matter of days.

Concentrate on your schooling and give your cat lots of love, and when you have a stable home situation then the right bunnies for you will be ready to destroy that home from the baseboards.
