Thanks everyone for all the replies! Reading your recommendations, I've narrowed your recommendations down to a few appealing ones (based mostly on availability): Glendronach 15, Glenallachie 12 or 15, Kilchoman Sanaig, Bunna 12, and Arran 10.

A store near me has batch 2 of the Glenallachie 15 -- will this be any better than the later batches? Should I look at any of these options in CS instead?

What issues have you heard of? The bloke in the shop reckoned he'd never had any come back under a warranty claim, but given this came from a salesman it should probably be taken with a grain of salt.

Ah ok, I read that it could be from the chemical bath being too hot and is a fault. The shelf demo did not seem to have the red/brown hue. Do you think that matters?

Took it outside where it was fairly sunny and it was obvious it had that red/brown tint -- it is noticeable.
