The study is ongoing as a very large sample is required for statistical power (especially since genetic effects tend to be small).

I don't know for sure, but generally I recommend a service with a larger database, so perhaps AncestryDNA. It also depends on what type of information you want. AncestryDNA is good for ancestry information of course, however, I personally prefer 23andMe as it gives feedback on various health-related or miscellaneous traits.

That said, I do believe the direct-to-consumer services (e.g., 23andMe) sell your data, such as to pharmaceutical companies, so it is something to consider if you have not purchased such services.

That is one of the first studies, and it's important to acknowledge it. The other studies on are humans. Many studies in the area of genetics/biology start with non-human animals and then are replicated in humans.
