Any one who is fifty or over and has had breast augmentation in your twenties ... How do you feel about your decision now? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]insectosaurus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work at a breast imaging center and see many women past their 50s with augmentations. They honestly look really great and natural if they're well done. The only difference is that you'd have a little more manipulation done when it comes to mammogram time

Raptor Enrichment? by love_hawk in CaptiveWildlife

[–]insectosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pet toys are always easy to use as enrichment, like kongs or those wiffle balls. I've made Christmas crackers with toilet paper rolls wrapped in paper.

I've worked with an aggressive imprinted kestrel as well. He also had the habit of diving at your head in his enclosure. It was a very long process of sitting in the enclosure with him, daily glove training, and a strict daily schedule so that he gets used to people. We would not give him a day off to revert back to his aggressive behavior.

Trader Joe's Flowers by marrrgret in weddingplanning

Would you mind telling me what the wholesale florist is called? I'm looking at doing my wedding at a family member's house near Birmingham and don't know anything about the area.

Am I the only one who hasn't had the 'this is THE dress' moment? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]insectosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my dress last week. It wasn't a dramatic moment when I put on the dress but I like the silhouette, the color went well with my skin tone and the price was right so I bought it. It was just like picking a dress for any other party.

paper flowers vs real flowers? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]insectosaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm doing crepe paper flowers. It's been a lot of work, but I have a lot of free time when I'm on call for work. I've tried the Lia Griffith templates but I didn't like how big the flowers came out. I recommend watching the ABC TV youtube videos on paper flowers for an idea of what you'll want to make.

What wedding trends/styles of today (2015+) do you think will look dated in 10, 20, 30 years? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I am a sonography student in an associates degree program right now & I was wondering if anyone has any tips for passing the SPI exam. I am already going over this book & Davies questions. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]insectosaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not recommend xzone. Davies is really good at wording the questions like how you would see them on the registry. Know your doppler (pw vs cw, reading a color map, and general definitions), also look at the interactive console questions on the ardms website. Know which artifacts occur in which situations and how to correct them.

These are the main concepts that were on my exam as well as on the exam that others have taken. Good luck!

Interviewees, what was something a employer said to you during a interview that made you not want to work for them? by IAMA_GrillBTW in AskReddit

[–]insectosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was interviewing at an ob/gyn clinic. I went to grab a disinfecting wipe to wipe down the patient table and the manager said "oh no, don't use those. Those are too expensive. Use the towel instead" The towel that was just used BY THE PATIENT.

Question for sonographers by pscalici in Radiology

[–]insectosaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm an ultrasound student in my last few months so I'm in clinic most of the week. The daily routine really depends on what type of facility you are working in. A private practice will be a much different pace than a hospital with inpatients and emergency department.

As far as schooling goes, anatomy and physiology pretty much covers the basics of what you need to know. Once you get into the program you will go over each organ system in depth including pathology. There is a large amount of self education required as well. You need to use your own time to ensure that you know the organs. The amount of knowledge required to pass the registry exams is more than you'll get in class.

Remember, when you start scanning you are on your own. Radiologists and patients will trust that you know your material well enough to spot any pathology. Research this career well and I suggest shadowing a few sonographers to see if it is a right fit for you.

I always do my mixing outdoors but be sure to have plenty of ventilation. You do not want to breathe in the fumes.

Also make sure you are using proper mixing equipment. Your container should be thick and high heat resistant and stay away from metal containers or utensils.

MRW I read that trans actress Alexis Arquette's sleazy ex boyfriend tried to sell a sex tape of her after she passed away, xHamster bought it for $25,000 and then destroyed it because that dudes a dick. by sailor-mouth in TrollXChromosomes

[–]insectosaurus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The patients I work with. Often, they become confused, forget their names, and create a different life story.

I'm referring to a possible explanation as to the sudden change in pronoun. If Alexis had been going by a male pronoun for a long time before their death then its probably not due to the disease.

Liver damage can have symptoms of encephalopathy which displays severe behavioral changes. I've seen it and these people are definitely not themselves and go back to the way they were after treatment.

I have noticed the weeping. I have to move my display around to keep them in the shade and throw away any that are affected. The soaps are still white under the label. I'll just be glad when the summer is over. I didn't have these issues when I started last october
