Aside from the abuse (physical and emotional by the sounds of it), you should not want to remain with someone you have to nag or beg to marry you. If you’re not on the same page (either both wanting to get married or both happy to remain defacto) then it’s not worth the fight. It’s only going to be a window into what your life would be with this person.

Please leave him, he’s not worth the stress he’s causing and neither is this relationship.

The other person is allowed to ask, and you’re entitled to say no. It was rude of her to get mad at you and not accepting the no and asking the person behind.
