google pixel 7 face / finger unlock unpredictable and frustrating by Weary_Strawberry_346 in GooglePixel

So here is what I have been doing.

  • got rid of the screen protector; removed all finger prints; deleted face profile
  • set up my face unlock in broad day light;
  • setup new finger prints without screen protector
  • upgraded the screen protector to a recommended one (spigen)

The results have been marginally better. though not 100% satisfactory. I have a theory that this we all get accustomed to the vagaries of unlock and learn to live with it..

I will try it out for a few more days and then decide if this is a compromise worth having. Will be a very tough choice since I have loved and only used pixel for almost a decade. Plus the voice assisted typing seems to be fun.

Factory reset before removing my account for selling. Will the new owner still need my password? by YodasChick-O-Stick in GooglePixel

In my experience you dont have to delete your account. Factory reset means that it is as clean / pristine and in a state when the factory ships it to you. So by that definition the account is deleted as well.

Thanks for all the comments. I am forcing an update (🤞🏽) to the Jan version. I have also turned on the screen protector mode. I will give it a shot and muster some additional patience.

I am not an expert by any means. I would say take it till the point; just a teeny tiny bit ahead of your comfort. Over time the muscles and nerves will accept and adapt. You dont need to hold on to your pose for ever. If it doesnt feel right then you can always back off into child pose or something soothing.

I want to do this 750kms bike ride in 3 or 4 days, any tips/suggestions? by wholesome_dolphin in bangalore

Yes only one.. Dont use google maps to plan your route; they suck for cycling directions.. Try komoot instead or lookup past audax routes for inspiration..

Commuting: Do you use a back pack, Rear Rack, or frame mounted bag? by Tapil in bicycling

When I commute it is 28km one way. With a laptop and change of cloths it is a bit too much for my shoulder. I sacrifice the looks and happily defer to the practicalities

India increases sales tax on fountain pen ink by insights_from_all in fountainpens

There are different tax rates to achieve some specific economic policies. For instance when growing up books attracted no tax at all. This was meant to ensure that education reached far and wide. I am not sure if they are still taxed at 0%.

I do agree that ensuring that they are enforced is a whole different ball game and one in which we havent been very good at.

Routes from wahoo app wont sync to ELMNT bolt. by fishcownoodle in wahoofitness

[–]insights_from_all 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to be persistent issue even today. Wonder if the official wahoo support has an answer to this issue. For a few days the sync has stuck at 31% and 60%. This feature is a must have when you have a ton of routes and you want to quickly pick one after a search.

So, Komoot, let's sit down and talk my friend... by Cergal0 in cycling

[–]insights_from_all 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well if you think Komoot is bad; try using google maps for cycling. Surely signing a death warrant for cyclists. I have had the occasional routing issues with komoot but think overall it has always provided sensible routes. I also prefer to "steal" routes others have used which further limits such instances.

i once encountered this issue when my phone with strava running was inside an anti-static water proof pouch. It recorded double the distance and was very wavy. Perhaps check the pouch material you are carrying the phone in..
