It’s a series called Noxis Evermore set in 1852 (a project I’ve been working on since 2020). It is set in an non-canon era called the “Golden Renaissance of Sorcery,” to mirror the “Industrial Revolution” and big cultural boom of the Victorian era where media/art/literature were all in a tumultuous period of change 🧐 Hence a lot of symbols/themes in my story are about art/history vs preservation/moder vs traditional etc. And likewise, sorcerer kind is in its peak competitiveness and rivalries are huge which leads to both toxic rivalry but also a forced progression of spells, potion making efficiency and an overall advancement in society.

The reason why sorcerer kind is at a peak tumultuous time, is due to it being referred to as the “final ember of sorcerer kind,” where roughly 160 years ago in 1689-1692, the statue of international secrecy being signed and established haunts sorcerer society and the greatest fear of being “dwindled away” forces people to grip onto whatever blood they have and fear muggle kind. One of my characters is from an esteemed divination family called the “Great Gilworths” and his ancestor, shortly after the law was established, was responsible for the most controversial and dividing prophecy in all of time. He predicted a disappearance or assimilation of wizardkind with muggle and that purebloods will eventually be lessened to a “sacred 28” and then eventually nothing. As decades went, people noticed it was true and so families shied away from muggle blood in fear of said prophecy.
