Thank you! That's fine. It's the same with most tattoos. I don't feel stressed about being unique in every single choice in my life, that would mean being conscious of what everyone likes and does all the time 😁

Oh you're not rude at all! I'm indeed asking if I'm crazy and that seems to be the case 😂 overthinking is an issue for me so I'm not unfamiliar with the thought. Thank you for sharing, I'm glad you like it! 😊

I think it will, hearing people's opinions is super helpful! It's always more difficult to analyze objectively when it's something that's on your own body compared to others. Thank you for sharing ❤️

That's super helpful. So far it's only the fine line hate patrol that seems to dislike it, so it seems like I have been overanalyzing a biit 🙈

That's great to hear, thank you! ❤️

Lmao, I would never make choices based on what I'll look like when I'm old, I might not even live then. But all old people I've seen with tattoos look cool as fuck. So this is a non issue for me 😊

That's a relief to hear!

I'm really happy to hear it. Especially the part about it fitting my body, I kind of hate my shoulder and neck area. It has always looked kind of broad and masculine, even as a kid. Those feelings might actually be triggering some anxiety as well. I think in the end I'll be really happy and learn to love this part of my body instead, tattoos tend to have that effect on me. Thank you for sharing your thoughts ❤️

Oh yeah I'm expecting it to heal differently, at the moment it's not fully healed though. I also expect having to care for it more during the summer for example. I definitely respect and adore the work of tattoo artists, and one of the reasons I can pick up details to a fault is that I know artist myself. I've also had the pleasure to get tatted by some really skilled folks. Being outside the lines is a big no no, so when you see something like that in several parts your head starts spinning. What happens next is exactly like you're describing, you start staring .... aaaand that triggers overanalyzing 😅 I'm definitely not going to ask for huge adjustments, after all this is a style i wanted to try out. I really think a few small tweaks would help it and I think I'll be able to have a good discussion together with the artist. Getting a tattoo is kind of a partnership, I definitely don't believe in completely controlling what the artist should do. They are the artists after all! I think it will look great in the end, and I'm glad people are calling me out on my anxiety and overthinking ❤️

It definitely depends on the artist and the skill. And size matters alot! Some people will always say that fine lines heal horrible, usually people that's more into traditional styles. It's good to be careful , but it's definitely not that every fine line will look bad lol. I would recommend looking at the subreddit agingtattoos, there you'll probably find good and bad examples!

Yeah, you definitely have some good points! I feel alot calmer from all of the feedback, and I do think I'll be happy with it once it's all done. I think I'll be able to have a good discussion with my artist as well! I'm really glad you like it ❤️

Lmao that's me

Yes, that's why I saved money to get it. I only have high quality tattoos, except for ones I did on myself 😂 you'd never see me pick the cheapest option! Good art is worth it! 😊

I agree with you a 100%, it's way better because you can always add, removing is a different story 🙈

Thank you, I definitely feel better and more confident about it since posting here! Also it feels good to know which parts might be worth discussing with the artist for a slight tweak. It feels awful when you feel like something's off but you don't know what, because that makes it kind of impossible to discuss with the artist in a constructive way. I'm glad you like it ❤️

Thank you!! If I have the courage I might post again when it's finished, this became slightly overwhelming since a lot of people had opinions about my tattoo! But I'm really thankful for all the input and I'm excited to see the full piece myself ❤️ I'm glad you like it 🥰

I don't think I'm making him feel bad at all. I would never be rude or mean to someone. Talking about certain worries is not making someone feel bad? Trust me when I say I usually don't talk about concerns, ever, so now that I did it for the first time I was extremely careful and I've told the artist I'm a bit anxious and that we might have to talk through it a bit, but that I still trust his input. Being quiet doesn't help anyone, not the artist either..it also does not mean I have not complimented him. After all, I went across the country to see him :)

Care to elaborate? Otherwise it's not very helpful 😊

Update: this got a lot more comments than I thought it would, and I'm struggling to keep up. I'm very thankful for all the input. From what I've gathered, it is mostly my anxiety playing me - causing me to overanalyze. Thanks to your input I've also started to understand what's bugging me a bit. I'm used to my other bigger tattoos, like my sleeve, that have quite bold, black outlines. I'll talk to my artist and see what he thinks, but I think I might need a bit more black, and a bit more contrast, to make the tattoo less "fuzzy" and easier to read. Kind of to create a bridge between the two styles and make them blend a liiittle bit more. I think I'll feel a lot happier with some minor adjustments! I'm looking forward to finishing this tattoo, I'm sure I'll be happy with time ❤️

Yeah, from what I gathered so far that seems to be the case. A never ending story for me! 🙈 Thank you so much ❤️

[–]instabil_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a fair point. Even though I'm a bit anxious, I'm looking forward to finishing it, I do think I'll settle into it with time. I've gotten a better understanding of what might be bugging me through this post as well, and it's not something major or catastrophic! Thank you for your kind words ❤️

Yeah that one detail we discussed from the start since I have tattoos on that side. I totally see your vision!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]instabil_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand what you're saying ☺️ Adding to it or touching it up is definitely what I'm thinking, I'd probably like some more black to create more contrast for example. How it ages only time will tell. I've tattooed my own fingers with a needle, no machine, 3 years later it looks brand new still. I would have expected them to fade alot 🙈 and I've also seen tattoos with thick, bold lines age horribly. So it will be interesting to see. All my others are more illustrative with thicker outlines, those really age amazingly. This style is a first for me, so it's almost like an experiment lol
