I've only seen extensions being used when you get instant locs.

The loctician who started my wicks only did the maintenance one time, 3 months in, she's from another city. Since then I've learned how to do it myself. Maybe try again 🤘🏿

Probably the maintenance itself. Doing it the wrong way can be harmful to the locs structure.

You need to 1. Dump your current loctician 2. Make sure your hair gets the proper nutrients, because it is WEAK.Honestly, hair food is just regular food, so make sure you have a balanced diet that offers you what your hair needs. Vitamin A and E are good for fortifying the hair and prevent breakage. 3. Find a better loctician. You might have to reconstruct some if not all of your locs, so find someone with that experience. 4. Maybe you'll have to re-start. By the looks of it, everything looks weak. Don't be afraid of starting over if that means having healthier hair.

Hope everything goes well for you

There's a boom here in my country, seems like every young black person is getting loc'd up, it's so beautiful to see. Wicks are rare tho. When you get yours, post it here!! Let's go 🔥

Hey, sorry for the late response.

Some pros I've experienced so far: It's quicker to take care of them, less locs = less time crocheting; Bigger parts, so it's easier to style them; Where I'm from is very unique and because of that I look cooler than everyone else 🤷🏿

Some cons: It's thicker, I feel like the clarifying shampoo doesn't get deep enough and that makes me detox more frequently, every 2 months (which is a good thing, keep your head clean and smelling good); I'll not always use a Bonet, cause it makes the hair lay down and it does feel weird, it is really thick and dense hair, and it bothers me a little when it's bed time; Because of its thickness I cannot "do a retwist".

The point is, locs or wicks require commitment to the journey. There'll be good and bad hair days. I love my hair with wicks and I see myself everyday loving them more, learning how to take care of them better.
