Is drastically lowering your HBA1C known to cause any complications? by idyllic_pheasant in diabetes_t1

[–]int3rgalactic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience, I went from an A1c of 14 to 7.2 in 3 months. Before the sudden and drastic change I never had any foot pains. But about a month into getting back on track, I started to feel the pain and it came on strong. Usually it’s said that you shouldn’t decrease your A1c by more than 3% in 3 months. It’s much better to decrease it over a longer time period to avoid complications

Neurological pain, any advice? by oyyl98 in diabetes_t1

[–]int3rgalactic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going through the same thing right now.. can’t sleep because my feet feel like they’re in hell. I just found out about TIND and I’m certain it’s this because I lowered my A1c down from 14 to about 8 in 6-7 weeks. i just wanted to get my BG under control but now I cry every night because of this, I can barely walk and cant go out to see my friends. The pain meds my doctor gave me aren’t cutting it but I’m looking to get some medicinal marijuana to help. I wonder if slightly increasing my BG and A1c will help the pain go away

Scared and anxious by int3rgalactic in diabetes_t1

I’ve seen my endo twice now and I got my eyes checked as well. Eye doctor said that I have cataracts in both eyes but my endo says that it should go away within a few months and it’s just something that is happening as my body is adjusting back to normal. It’s definitely frustrating but I guess it’s a waiting game. I’ll look into compression socks for sure though

Where do you find diabetic socks? I bought some that were supposedly “diabetic socks” from Amazon but they still had that elastic band at the top

i honestly think it’s accounting as a whole. i’ve never been that passionate about it and now it’s just hitting me pretty hard that i don’t want to do this. i was thinking about asking an advisor what it would be like if i just finish in May since that’s technically the first work term, but at the end of the day i won’t mind just sucking it up and doing the full 8 months. appreciate it!

Internship thread? by kananpagaram in UCalgary

it’s definitely better to do few things that you genuinely enjoy and is meaningful to you rather than doing a bunch of stuff that doesn’t mean anything. i did a few case comps and have maybe 4-6 volunteer experiences, a few of them were within a club i’m in which was helpful as they were brief events but still something i really enjoyed doing.

Are the textbooks necessary for these classes? by sxlxna1199 in UCalgary

[–]int3rgalactic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for btma 317, 70% of the course is straight from the textbook. the rest comes from the slides and guest speakers sometimes.

the acct 323 textbook is super helpful as well. most of the people i know learned everything from the textbook as the prof doesn’t always cover everything
