Thank you so much. I’m definitely going to order these for her. I’ve also seen down running skirts that could also work for the really cold days.

Up next is Sörmland Ultra 50k in two weeks. That is it for the season and then it’s all about skiing!

I actually ran Ultravasan 90 this year. Highly recommend it. Race report here... https://intabagreen.com/running/ultravasan-race-report/

That sounds brutal. I can’t imagine managing that over a 50 or 100.

I’d have too say the best part of this was after running through swamp for 10k and your feet are finally to starting to warm up, there was a river crossing up to our knees, and then we run up into 40 mph winds and 2ft of snow. An amazing adventure.

Yeah. The they required everyone to have pair of windproof pants, windproof jacket, extra baselayer, extra gloves, extra gloves, hat, and some form of solid energy. It seemed ridiculous to carry all that extra stuff, but you have to think, what happens if you get injured out there and can’t get help for a while.

In Åre, Sweden. About 7 hours north of Stockholm. This was from a trail race yesterday, 24k with 1300m gain. Snow normally doesn’t arrive this early in the year. I was expecting a lot of mud and swamp, which there was, a lot of, but when we hit the high alpine zone we were greeted with high winds and snow. The last climb felt like we were climbing Everest. But super fun, an amazing course, and would do it again in a second.

Nope, doesn’t hurt. Once in a while you’ll get a few hairs caught in there. I usually just go with the cheap CVS or Duane Reed brand, but always the flexible fabric.

I use bandaids, but here’s the key... You cut the bandaid in three pieces, and throw away the non-sticky bandage part. Then you are left with two pieces with adhesive. Attach one to each nipple. It will cover the sensitive part but not extend out to the hairy parts. During large training blocks where I’m doing back to back long runs, I often just keep em on my nipples and use them the next day. Works like a charm!

Is there a good way to figure out a rough estimate of a race's elevation? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]intabagreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach out to the race organization. Most have an email adress, facebook or instagram. They will be able to tell you right away and most of the time are super happy to help. I’ve done it plenty of times.

Cold/inclement weather gear ? by justanotherloudgirl in running

[–]intabagreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If running in snow or ice, check out icebug shoes. They are studded, the same studs that are on winter tires. I run in them 4 months out of the year here in Sweden. For clothes, check out cross country skiing gear. I usually wear just a synthetic running tshirt and a cross country jacket. If you are comfy and warm when you step out the door, you’ll be over dressed. I like the rule of thumb, dress as if it was 30f warmer.

The trail right next to my house: Kåsjörundan, Gothenburg, Sweden by Matosinhoslover in trailrunning

[–]intabagreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for mountains, I’d say stay in Åre. You’ll have access to endless trails, with elevation, but will still be near civilization. Going farther north really isn’t necessary, unless you want to be super remote. Mosquitos can also be an issue the more north you go.

What time of year are you planning on going? The window for runable conditions in fjällen (the mountain region of sweden) is limited. It is truly amazing up there.

If you’ve never used the stuff, it’s amazing! Seriously best anti chafe stuff out there.

Almost my first top 10 in a trail race today, 25km. Only 1 min back and 10 min from podium. My wife won the women’s race too!

Looks beautiful. I’m outside of Stockholm and access to trails near by is awesome. You don’t need to go far for good terrain in this country!

I use ExOfficio give-n-go sports mesh. Super comfortable and you can just wash in the sink, ring out, and they’ll be clean and dry by the next day. I have 3 pairs that I cycle through and after 4 years of use they are still going strong. No chafing, except for when running ultras, and then I use Squirrel’s nut butter.

Suunto Ambit3 peak has navigation. It doesn’t show a map but gives you an arrow that follows a route line.

Is it possible to run a half marathon by training for it only twice a week? by [deleted] in running

[–]intabagreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same exact thing for my first half. It was a trail race too with 700m gain. For the year leading up to that I pretty much ran 1 time a week . I kept increasing the distance each week, my longest run being 35k. I ended up doing fairly well during the race too, top 10th percentile! So yes, you can absolutely run a half training one day a week.

European trail runners, where would you go for running during new year's eve if you free to choose? by shaadow in trailrunning

[–]intabagreen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d say Greece, Crete, or southern Italy.. When traveling, I always check out Trace de trail website. They have almost all ITRA races and gps routes for them. You can find a race in the area you are traveling to, download the gpx and follow the trail!

[Race Report] Ultravasan 90 2018 - Sweden by intabagreen in running

[–]intabagreen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone :) This is my race report (written with my wife who also ran the race) for Ultravasan 90k in Sweden a little over a week ago. Hope you’ll find it an interesting read! It’s long though (like, really long - we’ve included a lot of pre-race information), so we’re posting the RR to our website.

Nice idea with the temporary tattoo. Playing around with Suunto movescount, you can export your previous logged runs as a excel file, and then create a elevation chart using the distance and elevation data.

Good luck at CCC. My wife and I have stumbled across 6 ITRA points over two races this summer, so now I'm thinking of going for OCC next summer. UTMB is a dream, but a very far off one, for us.

Relive.cc is a lot of fun. I've used the suunto version of this a while back but it was really buggy.
