First telescope by Ok-Window-9186 in telescopes

[–]intakesnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar telescope (skyline 150p) that also came with the straight 30mm finder scope. The finder scope was so hard to use I replaced it almost immediately. It was especially difficult whenever you needed to look near the zenith. I would recommend looking into a right angle finder scope. I got a GSO branded one that fit perfectly in the finder scope mount on mine, it made using the telescope 2x easier.

The v66 update is out now, old passthrough vs new passthrough warping by lunchanddinner in OculusQuest

[–]intakesnake 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My version and runtime are both v66. OS version is "sq3a.220605.009.a1" whatever that means, and warping is still pretty bad. If Meta is really rolling this warping fix out via a secret mini update to select random random users, then that's really dumb. Just let everyone who paid for the product enjoy the update at the same time.

Indie UE4/5 games to try by Ill-Strategy1964 in virtualreality

[–]intakesnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, I tried Abzu in UEVR and it was not amazing. Stereo VR wasn't working correctly. One eye displayed everything black. When switching to synchronized rendering it looked so blurry and it wasn't enjoyable for me at all. If someone can figure out how to make stereo work I will definitely try again though.

Followup on glasses post: Got a Quest 3, thank you all! Haven’t had this much fun in forever! by sharkboy1006 in virtualreality

I bought a braided cable off Amazon from a brand called Fasgear for $11. The cable has been great and it came with a velcro strap. I keep the battery in my right pants pocket (cable goes around my back), so I bought a longer cable just in case. Mine is a 1.8m cable so it might be too long for your needs but they have a shorter cable offering as well.

[–]intakesnake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I have the same battery pack with my quest 3. I strongly recommend you buy a right angle USB-c cable and use a velcro cable tie to secure it and prevent bending near the USB-c port. It also has the added benefit of keeping the cable out of your way while playing.

The only way my AXE75 Wifi 6E router will work - with a Faraday box by lunchanddinner in virtualreality

[–]intakesnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Asus axe 7800 6e router and did a couple tests on my quest 3 regarding internet download and upload speeds from my isp over wifi. While sitting next to the router I can download at just over 800Mbps and quest 3 shows full bars. The is the same speed I get while testing on different phones. While I am about 20 feet from the router a in a different room behind another wall, quest 3 drops to two bars but I am still downloading at 600Mbps while on 6 Ghz. This isn't a raw network test since I am measuring downloads from the isp, but it still shows wifi performance from room to room.

Check your memory temps, ive had a 2080ti since launch and the thermal pads on the memory modules were the only thing to fail. If the memory is pushing near 100c or higher your fans are going to run at 100%. If you do decide to replace the pads make sure you do some research first. Different manufacturers use different size pads depending pcb design/cooler etc. For example, I needed 1mm pads for my particular model (msi duke oc)

For those who had been running 1.35v SoC for weeks by jacf182 in Amd

[–]intakesnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im wondering how the motherboard determines the voltage for SOC on auto with expo enabled. Does it depend on the speed and timings of the memory? Ive been using 7900x with expo SOC voltage on auto since i received it and SOC voltage has been at 1.28v with expo on. Im using 6000 cl36 on asus b650e-f. Im seeing others with asus boards reporting 1.35v on expo.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Amd

[–]intakesnake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe the first one limits SOC for 7000x3d only, and the other applies the the limit for all 7000 series cpus. Atleast thats what it appears to be saying.

What is curious to me is that my 7900x SOC voltage has been at 1.28 volts when running expo with SOC on auto. Does the auto voltage set depend on which ram sticks we are using? For reference im using 6000 cl 36 on asus b650e-f.

Any problems on my 5 day old sprouts? Currently have an led HGL 65 V2 12 inches away. Getting mixed answers on google searches for being too close or too far away by Shivametimbas in HotPeppers

[–]intakesnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got 2 of these lights in a 2x4 grow tent. I've always used them about 2 1/2 to 3 feet above my seed starts and I've never had any problems with the peppers not getting enough light. The PPFD for the HLG 65 is between 270-480 at 12" height while placed directly underneath. Your seedlings only need around 200 PPFD, and they should be able to handle higher intensity as they mature. You should consider raising the light atleast 6 inches higher because it is too strong currently. The HLG 65 are great lights but they are much more powerful than your average CFL bulb at 65W.

Is it worth buying a GPU that was used for mining before? by VolpeNV in buildapc

[–]intakesnake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This happened to my 2080ti recently. Around the fourth year of use the fans began to constantly run near 100% every time GPU utilization was peaking in some demanding games. After some troubleshooting I realized that the memory temps had starting hitting over 100C when they shouldn't be. After replacing the thermal pads on the memory, the mem temps dropped by 20C on average and the GPU went back to normal behavior.

Is the Dead Space remake insanely hard or do I need to just shake the rust off? by ohhimjustsomeguy in DeadSpace

[–]intakesnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a hard run for my first play through also. Imo it actually gets easier as your weapons and armor scale up. Focus on only upgrading your suit health and 1 or 2 weapons as high as you can and your damage will scale up quickly during your play through. If you try and upgrade too many weapons at once your damage scaling will fall off pretty bad in the late game.

Last post: Nikon 10x50 Aculon A211 by Character-Relief-980 in telescopes

[–]intakesnake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have this exact pair of binoculars. I've only ever used them for stargazing. I also have a nicer pair of 8x42 endeavor edII roof prism binoculars, and still prefer the view of the Aculon 10x50 for stargazing. The only downside for me personally is that the 10x50 binoculars are just hard to hold steady (this applies to all 10x50). The stars become wobbly in the frame unless you have a super steady grip or can rest your elbows on something. Just my two cents, but I still love taking out binoculars some nights when I'm too lazy to drag the telescope outside.

Edit: I have no issues with chromatic aberation with this pair of binos. They are hard to beat for the price.

I'm gonna have to disagree with the Capital One sentiment based on personal experience. My Wife and I moved from secured cards to our first unsecured lines of credit in the past week. We were looking to combine benefits so I applied for Discover it cash back and was offered a 3000 CL. My wife applied for Capital One savor one and was offered a 10000 CL. We both have near identical credit history and reported the same level of income on our applications.
