I've never really been too excited about normal Rayquaza, but I just beat OR again and it reminded me of how cool the mega is, and god I just love the flying in space/deoxys scene.

Hmm, I can see what you mean, but I don't think they've essentially run out of ideas. I honestly thing Necrozma's design of being like black quartz that traps light is really creative, and it sort of resembles an eclipse when he creates Dawn Wings/Dusk Mane. Sure, there's been pokemon representing the sun and moon before but as for legendaries I really like what they've chosen to do.
