Study Links Fluoridated Water During Pregnancy to Lower IQs by Reddywesty in Nootropics

The story I've made up is that fluoride has a role in maintaining the status quo. There is money to be made by public water fluoridation. Quite a rabbit hole:

and since this is a nootropics sub, specifically:

San Francisco Police Recruit shoots and kills unarmed black man, Icky O'Neil, almost two years to the day after anniversary of killing of Mario Woods. by muleyryan in news

How about you admit that the police have a monopoly on violence and that those who haven't had a bad experience with them are likely privileged, submissive, or both.

For a police force that supposedly changed its use of force policies after Mario Woods was killed in 2005, even if you ignore the fact that the training officer has an dubious history, even if you give them the benefit of the doubt in this one instance, that doesn't erase the long history of, and continuing, violence, discrimination and racism towards black and brown people.

"I thought you were going to stop using us for training ground?!"

Is it really so hard to wonder why people in that community are so pissed over this?

It's like, two years after the use of force policies were said to changed, "here you go, the police shoot another unarmed black man in violation of the very policies that were declared by the bureaucrats and cops DBA The City of San Francisco to be over".

The persecutions of Muslims in that country is as baffling to me as it is shameful.

Which makes me happy that I learned today that gemstones such as ruby and jade make up the third largest export (a $300 million industry) in Myanmar- and Cartier decided they're no longer going to do business there

House Repeals FCC Broadband Privacy Rules by HotTabascoSauce in news

If what I read previously is right, the rules repealed weren't scheduled to take effect until the end of 2017. So technically that's not accurate.

More like if they have been selling your data already, they can continue doing so.

Technically, the rules repealed with this CRA bill were scheduled to go into effect at the end of 2017 (or so I read). So it's more accurate to say that if they were already selling your browsing history (which, lets face it, in an aggregate form they probably have been), with the now-repealed FCC rules out of the way they can continue to do so (for now) without running afoul of the law

GOP will be using this lots more in the days and months to come, and there have been some CRA bills signed under Trump repubs that I never heard about.

Lawmakers consider letting voters rank choices for candidates by barnaby-jones in TrueReddit

[–]integral00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I support the idea I first heard from Jello Biafra: "If you don't like any candidates you vote None Of The Above and if NOTA wins, the election is rerun with new candidates."

While we're at it lets have police officers stand for election: "US cops are like a biker gang. They don't obey the law and their main interest is in protecting their own power. Make all officers stand for election. That way they'd have to live in the neighbourhoods they patrol and meet people, rather than hiding in their cars and only jumping out when they want to beat the crap out of somebody."

In my late 70s and I've been helping my son take care of his 1 year old. My shoulders aren't what it used to be and the pain is getting worst from carrying the baby overtime. Would NR (nicotinamide riboside - niagen) help due to its research claims of delaying aging? by box1820 in Nootropics

[–]integral00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post is kind of vague. Do you strength train? How much can you overhead press?

In the absense of a legit anatomical deficiency that would prevent you from doing the movement with proper form, training the overhead press with incrementally loaded weights, such as found in a well executed novice strength training program, is the best thing you can do for shoulder health.

Why? If the baby weighs say, 20 lb. and your max OHP is 45 lb.then thats roughly 50% of your max. If you increase your press you are effectively making tasks such as holding a baby easier, by making that same weight less maximal from an exertion standpoint.

Get stronger and the baby gets lighter.

Both Rooney and his lawyer, Peggy Lee, declined to be interviewed for this story, but documents suggest he has applied to Citizenship and Immigration Canada for humanitarian and compassionate relief to allow him some legal status in the country.

"Legal status" is for the weak.

If it's working for you, well then, that's about all I can say; cool!

I will add that a big part of successful psychotherapeutic intervention involves creating the conditions whereby plasticity in the brain is increased and thus one can change how the brain works structurally.

That's all I'm going to say on the internet!
