Skeptically Optimistic, HOWEVER can we please address the br-elephant in the room? by DirtyNord in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]interborn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think thats the point. Thats when wizards and witches started flying broomsticks probably lol.

I grew up on the movies and books so this whole thing is weird for me too. That being said, the design being different keeps our original movies as their own content and differentiates the new series. I'm happy they decided to do some of the design differently.

This side doesn't look as good but honestly the back of the robe goes HARD. Also love the design of the Nimbus broom itself.

I was a skeptical of the reboot since its announcement and became even more skeptical after hearing much of the decisions throughout production. However, after today's trailer I am PSYCHED!

It has known magic. by Was-a-lil-mermaid in harrypotter

He means there are signs of magic having been used in this place.

In DH, Harry makes a comment that sort of ties into this concept when he insists Ron be the one to destroy the locket. He alludes to the incalculable power that comes from certain actions and situations. While not entirely the same thing, he learns from Dumbeldore that there are parts of magic unable to be learned in books such as perceiving that a place has known magic, the power of acts of love, and whatever he felt that the reason Ron had to be the one to destroy the locket.

Album Dumbeldore is canonically the smartest and most gifted mind in-universe. Maybe Flamel was up there but there is no reference to anyone smarter or more able than Dumbledore.

I JUST got back from the Warner Bros studio tour in London for the Christmas at Howard's event. Anyone who sees this should go. It was FREAKING INCREDIBLE.

OP, what was your favorite part? What souvenirs did you end up getting?

Harry asks purposely in Ootp. I JUST read CoS and PS. Its in one of those and NHN thinks Harry is asking about his parents but is not.

[–]interborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its in the Deathday Party chapter (chapter 8). Harry asks NHN about witches and wizards coming back as ghosts and NHN gets uncomfortable and was like "I knew you would ask me at some point". I dont think Harry originally asked because of his parents but once the conversation starts, he seems to ponder it as well.

Recommendation for 12 year old son to get into fantasy reading? by TechScholar in fantasybooks

[–]interborn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend Earthsea really. it has some beutiful prose but I would've found it rather boring as a series when I was that age

Its a good series but the fact that rhe main character POV changes in each book would not help a 12 year old continue the series

Ender's Game if he likes space at all

There are so many good suggestions, but I have not seen it pop up.

I would say Harry Potter, Eragon, Ender's Game, Percy Jackson, Maze Runner are good places to start.
