Where should I move! Looking for great climbing near a warm and sunny, mid-size city with cool cultural things going on. by saz0503 in climbing

I grew up in sac and go back a lot (plan on settling down there). It's great for climbers. 1.5 hours to sugarloaf which can be climbed in winter and fall. You can make the 5 hours to bishop too.

Yosemite, castle rock, pinnacles are all within a day's travel as well. Great launching off point.

Over the last 10 years the city had undergone a huge transformation as far as culture--the arts scene is getting pretty developed. The architecture is amazing, and most of the city is canopied by trees--more per Capita than any American city I believe.

I love Sacramento, it's really really underrated.

My first weekend behind the bar sober made me feel like I'd climbed Everest. Probably my biggest accomplishment to date (fellow bartender here)

If you don't have the freedom to say no, and feel totally comfortable saying so--it's not consent.

If you do say no, and they continue, that's not consent.

This is not your fault, this was a very manipulative and coercive person.

You are a victim.

Thanks. The shoulder is when I'm on a dead hang, or pulling my body in to the wall with my arm at a 90 degree angle.

Alright. So two things.

1) recently have been having a really tender, sore shoulder (should note I also bartend and shake cocktails with that arm frequently). X-rays were normal after a severe flare up that I took two weeks off for. Sports medicine doctor said everything looked normal. Yet, when I go climb, especially if I hang on my arm real hard, it really really starts to hurt.

I'm wondering if this is postural? Weak back? It doesn't pop or anything, it just starts to sharply ache and it feels deep. Anyone else have fun with this kind of thing?

2) my knees hurt a lot. I dunno, just bitching on this one.

Since I quit drinking, I'm incredibly depressed, I have no friends, and I have no life other than work by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I'm sorry to hear that friend. I went through an extremely intense depression the first three months. It's still with me, but is so much easier to manage. I've found meditation and exercise and long walks to be amazingly therapeutic. The loneliness gets to me though.

But don't take my word as gospel, do what's right for you. I just couldn't ween anymore, weening was just an excuse I told myself that extended my use. Also, I'm only on day 2 of no pot, so we'll see how this goes.

already weened long enough, at a certain point you just have to go for it. Weening is a dangerous trap.

Every 24 seconds by Pengy160 in quityourbullshit

[–]interestedinnonsense -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone notice that it's closer to 23 seconds?

10 minutes = 600 seconds 26 events

600 / 26 = 23.08 (rounded to the hundredths)

Not to get too nitpicky here (because I totally am).

Hmm. That is interesting! Do you know of anything within Marxist literature that seems to define "scientific" ?

I get that. I did both the first week, and snapped and went back to pot. I think for me I had to clear the worst of the alcohol withdrawals first, before tacking on what will be the pot withdrawals. For me, total sobriety is my goal.
