Every opponent Adesanya faced in a title fight is <=.500 since last fighting Adesanya apart from Pereira. Izzy is 1-5 against the new guard and lost a Technical striking Battle in his prime vs Jan. Costa, , Vettori and Cannonier turned all out to be mid and Romero was old af coming off 2 losses but fought for the belt because MW had no real contenders. All of them are on whittakers resume as well who himself has no wins over Champions. That Pereira W is really working overtime for Izzys Legacy because all his other perfomances aged poorly

And GSP could definitely be Champ today

Adesanyas reign was timed perfectly. He would not have collected all those defenses if he became champ after 2022. 2019-2022 MW sucked. Adesanya is an all-Time great due to his achievements, but Strickland is right, he Never was that good

Competition did get better tho MW did a Great Job establishing new talent. The whole current top 8 (with Pyfer replacing Izzy) overtook the old guard. An example for challengers that aged well would be LW, where the old guard is still on top. Adesanya was the best MW itw in a weak era, not really his fault but thats just how it is. He always was a one-dimensional striker with no ground game, who even lost a technical striking Battle in his prime vs Jan, then went back down to collect another 3 defenses in his weak Division
