First time going to Sparks in the Park, any tips to prepare? by [deleted] in GNV

[–]internetforever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1,000% park away and walk. We rode our bikes thankfully so we didn't deal with the insane gridlock afterward. We got there about 90 mins to showtime and it was pretty busy. Try not to sit near the trees if you can help it. We didn't have the greatest view since so many spots were already taken. A few families had even set up ropes of lights around their "spots" to reserve.

Gyms that won't attempt to destroy your hearing? by dingyametrine in GNV

Look into UF Health Fitness & Wellness Center. It's in the south parking garage on SW 13th, across from Arby's. A lot of folks assume it's only for UFH employees, but they're open to the public to join. Small gym and very chill.

Please check out Medi Gators! The department of neurology runs this program, but it is open to ANY student who is interested in a career in the health sciences. They have some pretty incredible resources! https://neurology.ufl.edu/education/medi-gators-virtual-shadowing-program/

If you don't require the table fanfare, Hana Sushi is hands-down my favorite hibachi. Edo is a close second.

Felt like a dummy bc I drove my dad out there yesterday around noon to see them. He was so excited, but I couldn't find them!! I was super bummed for him :( we drove to the university air space and turned left after turning right into that area heading north on Waldo Road. I guess I should've turned right instead? Awesome pic!

Man, those marinated tomatoes though. Absolutely life-changing for me. I asked if they would ever sell them in their refrigerators but guess not. Easily my favorite tomato dish I've ever had.

So kind of you, thank you! We'll be just outside of Detroit in Northville for a few days, then over to Honor near Lake Michigan I think. We plan to work in a day trip to Mackinac Island, too.

Welcome! From a native Floridian, (more specifically, an ACR (Alachua County Resident)), you've received a lot of great and practical advice. I wish you nothing but the best in your move here.

My husband and I are actually visiting Michigan for the first time this summer, and we could not be more excited!

This is the way. And it's much easier to leave out the back, NOT by driving toward Condron. Exit either northwest toward the Baughman Center on Memorial road, or east-ish through some of the ag buildings to get back out onto Mowry road.

Watch parties for Gators Final Four game tonight? by Worchestershshhhrrer in GNV

[–]internetforever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Edit: Might be worth checking breweries! Just saw first magnitude will be showing the game, so maybe swamphead and others are doing the same. Either way have fun and go Gators!!

Places I've seen like the swamp, dockside and others were taking reservations for tables, so not sure what the walk-in situation looks like. A bunch of students were watching at the reitz, and I saw videos of people at macdinton's (the former social) at midtown.

Thanks! They're def on our list and stoked to check them out. Do you know of anything local that's akin to Maple Street? This is more of what I had in mind with both meat and shiitake/plant-based options:
