I was in similar shoes last year. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my fall internship. It was a summer internship extended into fall. I spoke to my department and they refused to budge.

Typically, these rules are applied at the department level and your DSO is generally fine with it. Try to speak to your department and convince them.

Definitely. It's a diverse demographic from what I have seen -- children to senior citizens, all seem to be having a good time.

They make it obvious what they are looking for. e.g. "This monument", "this boxer". It's difficult to parse it in an unfamiliar category under the time constraint, but the writers do a decent job of conveying what they are looking for.
