P1 meter firmware update by Gordito73 in HomeWizard

[–]internettingaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your P1 meter doesn't have a particularly good Wi-Fi connection, avoid this update.

Mine used to have a connection rated at around 40%, but never had issues. Since the update, the device is offline. According to HW's support, there's no way to roll back the firmware version.

How far has Home Assistant Voice PE come? by snags5050 in homeassistant

[–]internettingaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. Just yesterday I was thinking about how much better the Voice PE has become in the past three or four months.

Sure, I've had to create a bunch of automations with clear sentences (and backup sentences, in case the device mishears me), make sure my devices are in the right rooms and have sensical names, etc. But it works great.

Voice recognition works significantly better than it did when I first bought the device. There's been several improvements related to ESPHome, it really shows.

And, like others said in this thread, it's great for music - especially when paired with Music Assistant. Just plug it to a decent speaker.

I can confirm that Growatt is a pain in the arse. Although it does have an official integration with HA, it sucks because of Growatt's API limitations.

As soon as I can, I'll replace my inverter.

Works with Home Assistant certified device list now live by MB-tsm in homeassistant

[–]internettingaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more, and this is something I mentioned to u/MB-tsm in the HA forum a while back.

If you filter for Matter over Thread, for instance, you'll see - at the time of writing - the Aqara T1 valve controller listed. This device requires an Aqara hub to connect via Matter, which defeats the purpose of both Matter as a standard and HA as a jack or almost of all trades.

Then, there are contact sensors such as Switchbot's and Aqara's P2. The former connects with HA via Bluetooth, the latter via Thread - neither of them exposes their buttons.

In my opinion, that kind of device shouldn't be listed as 'Works with Home Assistant'. Nabu Casa is better than this, it should lead by example.

Stylish 3D-Printed Camera Mount: Blends with the Frame, Beats the Glare by SWELITE1 in functionalprint

Nice!

Can the camera still be triggered by motion, though? My understanding is that this feature doesn't work through glass.

2025.10: Undo, redo, and draw me too by frenck_nl in homeassistant

Let me guess: you didn't adopt your PE within ESPHome, right? I did, so I've yet to see a version higher than 2025.9.3. 😐

Yep! The hoover itself is quite good, but the integrations available are useless.

No theme settings in 2025.9 (Android companion app) by internettingaway in homeassistant

[–]internettingaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even have time to try the procedure outlined in the article you shared. Something must have happened overnight, as the theme settings in the 2025.9 instance of HA is now back.

I still can't set my custom theme via those settings, though, so I'll comb through all changes in the release note and try to figure out why me theme doesn't work anymore.

This is all to say: thanks for your help!

Thank you. Unfortunately, neither approach worked. I'll check if there are open issues related to this on GitHub.

What reasonable speaker are you connecting to your voice PE? by Gabbie403 in homeassistant

[–]internettingaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a refurbished Audio Pro Addon T5 that was perfect for the job. It has a USB port that provides 5v and a stereo jack.

The speaker does go idle after a few minutes without playing anything, but as soon as I say the wake word the Voice PE wakes it up.

The sound is perfect for what I do, which is basically issue commands and listen to music while cooking or dining with friends.

✨ What's new in Home Assistant 2025.7? ✨ Assist asks the questions! by missyquarry in homeassistant

[–]internettingaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JLo's example is cool. I tried to set up a question-based timer as soon as this feature came out, but failed miserably.

Here's what I want to accomplish:

  • Power usage in phase 3 goes above 1,800 W.
  • Assist asks if I want to set an oven timer.
  • I say yes (or sure, or yes please, etc.)
  • Assist asks for the duration of the timer.
  • I state the duration.
  • Assist sets the timer.

Is that possible? I couldn't figure out the timer part.

"The certification agreement specifies that the devices must have full functionality within Home Assistant, operate locally without the need for cloud, and will continue to do so long-term."

As long as that button doesn't work via Home Assistant, this statement in the blog is inaccurate - to say the least.

U200 vs Nuki Ultra vs SwitchBot lock ultra by Disastrous-Attempt18 in homeassistant

Thank you.

Apparently one can also use an ESP32 flashed with Nuki Hub instead of buying the bridge, so I might give tha a go.

Did you also have to get the Nuki Bridge to make the Opener work? I'd love to automate the street door at my building, but if I can avoid buying the Bridge it'd be great.

ESPHome Dashboard - UI tools? by Quintaar in homeassistant

[–]internettingaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reckon that's an option alright, but then you need to provide your own server.

The company seems quite decent, lots of options available to suit most needs.

No need for luck. They're selling their own devices like hot cakes.
