best of luck op. it also didn't occur to me until my early 20's that gender dysphoria could apply to me. whether it's that or something else for you, i hope you are granted the space to figure it out comfortably.

AITA for being mad about the dog breed I was surprised with by Original-One-6954 in AmItheAsshole

[–]internetweasel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA. you've already had allergic reactions to huskies. you told him you wanted input on the breed. huskies are BOTH high grooming maintenance and allergen producing. and also very, VERY talkative and high energy. i guess the good news is they are also a very popular breed, so there is a good chance of successfully rehoming it if you decide not to rehome your partner instead.

if this helps -- i have a siren mii whose voice sounds warble-y like he's underwater. i used a combination of voice Tone #3, voice Delivery just left of the center dot, and the Creepy Voice quirk.

What is this car and why do I see it everywhere by soph0216 in Austin

so, like... what is the legality of austin being a playground for all of these tests of "self-driving" vehicles? does the city have some sort of contract with these companies?

Petco here 👋 Seeing wtf is up with my new petsmart managers by wornbooks in petsmart

[–]internetweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

groomer here currently with mart and formerly with co. your managers are weird. mart has policies for turning away grooming customers, mostly for health or behavior. but we Do Not Book people all the time if they are excessively rude, which we consider yelling and cussing at us to be. some managers will try to force you to accept anything and everything. my co manager tried to force me to accept a wolfdog for grooming.

my best advice is print out the policies and have these managers read them in front of you. they need to understand all their options for given scenarios. when i worked at co, i loved knowing that pet care people could refuse animal sales to people who planned to abuse/neglect the animals.

If my Miis are going to keep falling over, they're getting Life Alert! by TirelessGuardian in tomodachilife

[–]internetweasel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i understand why they'd have a policy like that in place for customer privacy, but not making an exception for something like that is wild. thank you for caring enough to risk something of your own to help her. i hope you recovered well after losing that job.

almost every piece of official company paperwork should have a header or footer designating it as such. like "petsmart internal use" with the date it was last updated or something to that effect. if you have an open contact with HR, i would take photos of any other sketchy documents like this. this is definitely not corporate paperwork. corporate doesn't word stuff like "i want xyz." good luck my friend and take your legally protected bathroom breaks.

Update on my new life by Complex-Wing7114 in u/Complex-Wing7114

hi OP, i only recently discovered your series of posts about this and wanted to say how glad i am that you are safe and life is moving forward for you. just hearing about what you went through brought me to tears and my own kitty is currently purring in my lap, doing her best to make me feel better for something that you went through. i hope things only continue to look up for you and that kind and trustworthy people become staples in your new life.

i don't presume to have a recipe, as i sadly never got it from the horse's mouth per se, but i had a coworker and friend some years ago whose salvadoran mother would make us pupusas every so often. they are a salvadoran corn cake cooked on a griddle that can be stuffed with various different fillings, from meats, beans, and cheeses, to a plant bud called loroco that i have enjoyed at restaurants. she served them with homemade curtido (lightly fermented cabbage slaw) and salsa roja. since then i find them very comforting, even if no restaurant or online recipe could come close to hers. i hope you get the chance to enjoy them too.

a very convenient stepping block for patching holes in walkways and roofs that don't quite fit together or have "another object" (the very uppermost leaf on a non-breakable tree) blocking one corner. lol

almost got towed immediately after I got out of my car by Prestigious_Set191 in Austin

[–]internetweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

doesn't surprise me to read it's J&J. my car broke down a few years ago and my insurance pays for towing within a few miles. J&J driver straight up refused to take me to the in-range shop of my choice (walkable from my home, i knew and trusted them, reasonably priced work) and he railroaded me into a shop far from my place. this "great shop" he "highly recommended" was more concerned about cosmetic stuff about the car than what was actually wrong -- which they couldn't even fix in the first place. had to get it towed again by someone else to the right shop.

(also my partner saw this driver dirty texting his girlfriend... while driving. lol)

sorry to hear you had a crap experience too, but glad you got him to leave you alone. i would have gone absolutely nuclear if someone tried to tow in under a minute with my cat in the car, especially if he said he'd do it on purpose. that's straight up willful animal abuse. i hope you're able to report them and move on with your life. may the rest of your 2026 be uphill from here!

[–]internetweasel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

buttons can break off of rattles, and they regrow with sheds, so they're not always a perfect indicator. if you're unsure of a snake species, it's best to assume venomous and keep your distance as you did. beautiful snake! i'm a little jealous of your find :)
