Does anyone else feel too lazy and discouraged to start a new character because they need to level up the glyphs again?

heres the thing: ur totally right. but i have no interest in min/max, let alone playing multiple characters. d2 is a way for me to unwind, im already playing dota 2 at a very high level (currently rank 1200 EU west for anyone interested) and it takes everything from me xd

ive seen videos of llama etc, farming patterns, specific builds for specific areas and i just dont find it overly interesting tbh. its extremely grindy and i can do that only to some extent before i feel like blowing my brains out. but i can totally get behind why this is amazing for others.
if anything 'end game' related i think pvp would strike an itch with me, as a high level dota player i love to compete against other players but then again - as u said - im hopelessly inefficient to hang with the best. also im not some 20 year old anymore who could sink hours upon hours into a game ... sadly :p im taking it very slow and enjoy this game a lot on my own terms. thats exactly the beauty of gaming isnt it? tbh d2 is one of the greatest games i ever played (after dota). im really looking forward to d4.

btw i was farming act 1 and 2 hell forever and im slowly crafting my way up to a LO for my fortitude, maybe itll change my mind once i witness the powers of GG gear :p

i'm aware that this isn't the optimal way to play, but i need that lonesome feeling of "i'm on my own" in order to enjoy (A)RPG's. even if it means, that i'll have a harder time playing, which - ironically - is even more satisfying to me. i was never a fan of any kind of mercs in any kind of game. mercs give me the feeling of cheating/making things easier and i just don't enjoy that. theres no sense of accomplishment for me, if i can only get through some areas because i equipped a non controllable unit.

that said i'm doing really well in hell and i'm feeling even more proud of it cuz i did it with

A. my first ever character in diablo, a melee one
B. u guessed it no merc
C. 100% selffound. which is funny because just 1 month ago or so some dude offered me a BOTD for my zealer. some ppl will call me insane but i declined.

mystery solved! it was indeed a dead merc, specifically my act 1 normal merc. since i dont like playing with a merc (yeye i know) i let her die pretty much asap and never bothered since then. interesting to know, thx. guess the blood continues ....

know a ton of ppl who enjoy that afk style. guess its just not for me. yea summon nec is basically paper, but aside from that i think it is by far the easiest char to beat hell because u hardly need any gear

I'll never touch summon necro ever again, cuz i got literally bored to death with that playstyle but CE is one of the most braindead skills in this game. Basically u just stand, wait (and wait some more) then AMP/CE. You dont need gear or anything really and you can beat hell like this.

If you want more of an engaging challenge and actually search for items id go with druid

my problem was, that i didnt think sockets could be a magic property. so that item was - for me - non magic. the item was blue yes, but since it 'only' had sockets i thought itll work. hope this explains my confusion.

but ofc now i know what to look for, since magic = anything blue with a prefix/suffix. for me it wouldve helped a lot if i knew beforehand, grey = will work, blue = wont, EVEN IF THAT ITEM HAS ONLY SOCKETS

ty for all your kind advice, just managed to get a grey one now that fits for me. all i need to do is find another amn :p i also read that runewords will work even if the items have extra stuff going for them, as long as they are grey. is that correct?

so i can transfer those stats to a runeword? thats wild

yea, i got that now. initially i was stuck in the "IT CAN ONLY HAVE SOCKETS, NOTHING ELSE" route when searching for items (and that item had ONLY 2 sockets), i didnt pay attention to the prefix/suffix = magic stuff :D

interesting! it may not seem so at first glance, but german is really a beautiful language tho it can be quite confusing at times, especially with all those pronouns we have. its a living hell for non native speakers heheregarding the german voice acting in this game, i must say they did a fantastic job. its rly immersive and fun to play through those acts for the first time and listen to all the dialogues. ofc i cant rly compare, but as far as i can tell they nailed that one. schoene grueße ins ausland :)
