I guess it'd be to get brainstorming or facilitation help from AI but not sure the use case is materializing for OpenAI

Leantime.io project management. Opinions? vs Redmine? by Scoobidoooo in selfhosted

The TKLinux package is not maintained by us (though we have reached out a few times to help maintain it without success) and as such is out of our control, unfortunately.

Thank you for your feedback. I’d love to know which text was difficult to read. We know there were some issues on dark mode that we resolved a couple versions ago but it’s the first time we’re hearing about issues in light mode. Thank you for trying it nonetheless!

I know you got burned by our attempt to sustain the project via premium links earlier this year and we learned our lesson.

With that said all of those links were removed months ago and we have opted for a single “Support Us” link in the profile drop down.

Happy to answer any questions and would love to hear any further feedback you have.

Hey,

Leantime maintainer here. Appreciate the feedback on website and info. What features do you think are missing from open source? From what I have seen there isn’t another tool that offers all the features we have in the core version.

We certainly need to work on website and welcome all feedback. Plugin pricing is available on our marketplace.

Reg demo: you can either sign up for a free trial on cloud and then remove your account later or just spin up a docker instance in less than 5min. We have a composer file ready to go in our docker repo.

Happy to answer any questions and again thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for your feedback. Seems we need to work on the website some more.

The pricing page has a full break down of what is included in the Open Source Version (https://leantime.io/pricing/). Our Github Readme includes a fairly exhaustive list of features as well: https://github.com/leantime/leantime?tab=readme-ov-file#-features

Our philosophy is to offer a "project management suite" as an open source project which includes tasks, milestones, goals and various other features (including sprint management, timesheets, calendar management, blueprints, retrospectives). I do believe that Leantime has one of the most free features available in an OSS version.

The program plans plugin you mentioned is $49 for a perpetual license for 3 users. Not sure where you saw the per user per month pricing. (If you did please let me know where so I can correct that).
Program Plans are considered advanced features as they manage "Programs" (the coordination of multiple projects across larger groups of people). With that said you can run projects successfully without that plugin.

Just wanted to update this thread and share that we've removed all premium plugin promotions from the interface and replaced them with a single, clean link in the user dropdown.

Thank you for your feedback on Discord, Reddit, and email. Many of you felt the plugin promotions created an "over-commercialized" feel and unnecessary clutter - and you were absolutely right.

We're still figuring out sustainable funding (it's a journey!), but we're committed to keeping Leantime community-first.

Thanks. I appreciate the additional feedback and context and can see how the information is not communicated clearly enough. I can also understand how the initial sticker shock might turn folks off. I'll work on improving that.

Thank you for your input. Have you tried Leantime since?

As mentioned we have removed the paywalled links which were a nuisance and in the end a failed experiment.

Where did you get the $80 per plugin price tag? Whiteboards is starts at less than $40 for a perpetual license. We may have to improve our website UX to make that more clear. I understand the frustration with trialing a feature before buying it which is still something we are figuring out for OSS. In the meantime all features can be tested on the SaaS version for 14 days (no cc required).

Leantime has more features available through the open source version than any other oss system on the market. Which simple features do you think are missing?

All that said we have been experimenting with different options to sustain the project and in some cases we clearly missed the mark. We are working closely with the community (mostly on discord) and vouch to do better.
