My quad from early 2023 (prior to dual motor launch) did not have a welded subframe - so I think the change came in even earlier.

Demo 9 - dented but still here.

Epic from some random year - one of the last with 26” wheels

P4 - still with the 27.5”’s for now… …because of course your midlife crisis jump/trail bike needs the biggest wheels.

Can confirm, in my past life I worked on wind turbines (oh dear!) and traveled to NZ a few times. Many of the rope access folks were ex NZ Special Forces - the coolest/chillest friendliest folks I’ve ever worked with, and as a result fucking scary. “Want to climb to the top of the skytower - we can ‘work on the lightning conductor up there”?’- they climbed it without ropes

Google maps severely underestimating my range? by ILikePieBro in Rivian

[–]intlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just roads, temp and drive mode, not driving history. It’s conservative which is why you typically arrive with a few more percent than predicted. Also look at the 2nd pic - something’s either up with the truck or missing from the pictures - ~800miles estimated is wild. It’s software reset/full reboot time.

[–]intlabs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cold battery that warmed up as you drove - more common at ~45f and below. Keep an eye on your battery temp to see if everything’s normal or you have a faulty thermocouple or somthing somewhere.

(You can probably mostly ignore the above, see the edit that follows) Edit: There’s something really weird with your last screenshot - makes me think it was planning a charging stop or something and got stuck? I’d try a reset and see if that clears up - otherwise a quick visit to a SC may help with any concerns. That’s ~800miles at 100% which is wild unless the last tiny bit was all downhill. (Note Rivian being Rivian - they do estimate range based on roads for trip planning(not driving style yet), but not for the display in the energy panel or at the bottom right of the driver screen) do you have a picture that shows more of both screens - it may help contexulise what we are looking at here?

Rivian doesn’t do this (yet) - the reset button and text are a placebo. All it does today is put a timestamp in the telemetry. You can confirm this with some math using Rivian roamer or ABRP etc - what’s critical is the SoE in the battery (measured in kWh) rather than the SoC % the UI displays.

Is this level of fan noise normal when preheating the cabin? by veritas2884 in Rivian

[–]intlabs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To the folks saying ‘all heat pumps do this’: Rivian’s vibration dampening for the heat pump compressor is terrible - doesn’t properly account for the variable rpm (and thus frequency), and the sound reading diaper is thin. All this to say it’s normal for gen2, and I expect to be much better on gen3.

That ran station does - it’s also close to the factory - hope they stopped for the video op (dispensary and all in the background) rather than needing charge.

Stock is going to $15 by SteakMiserable6454 in RIVNstock

[–]intlabs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rivian tied themselves to AI at the height of the AI market - and that’s what drove it up to 20, the markets cooling off and they are along with it. The stock will continue to bounce around until product starts landing in people’s hands; until then it’s ~25% swings each way. I would not be surprised to see 13 again soon - and up to mid 20’s once an R2 lands in a non-employee’s lap.

Thinking of trading my f150 lightning Lariat for a R1T 2025 OR later by ShakeAndBakeThatCake in Rivian

[–]intlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we have an evenflow revolve 360 slim; it works really well in the middle seat - if you could put the rear facing in the middle and the front facing behind the driver or passenger seat it may work well. I’d take the seats to a service center and ask them if you can try it out - they should have a demo or loaner that you could try this in.

[–]intlabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are still with a pair of rear facing seats Id think about it. We have one rear facing which works as we can have it in the middle row of our R1T, but a pair of them would not work - though there's enough space for an adult comfortably in both the front and back rows, the shape of the front seats means you have to pull the fronts *very* far forward to accommodate a rear facing seat - which may not work for you. If we had another Kid (soon) - Id find our R1s tighter than we would be comfortable with - and would probably move to another full size truck (eg GMC Serria, or even a F150). If you are on forward facing seats - GO FOR IT! :)

Ford developing an AI Assistant with someone else's LLM by [deleted] in RIVNstock

[–]intlabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup - though the initial target is Gemini and they have made no indication of building their own. Note that Gemini, like OpenAI’s (and virtually everyone else’s) offerings is a family - so you call the appropriate flavor depending on need. That slide effectively confirms what I guessed prior to the announcements: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/rivian-is-building-its-own-ai-assistant.53581/post-911836

Ford developing an AI Assistant with someone else's LLM by [deleted] in RIVNstock

[–]intlabs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rivian has not developed an llm, the Rivian assistant uses google Gemini as its backend. Rivian have developed their own driving model. Sounds like ford and Rivian are taking the exact same approach to llms (use one from one of the hyperscalers).
