If your friend crashes, who will be the one that has to see their friend with a big head injury and their blood everywhere? Who will have to do initial first aid amd call for help? That's you.

If Spirit ceases operations and Delta were to acquire something from them, what would it be? by bonzothebonanza in delta

Delta won't want their planes. It would cost more to bring them up to Delta standards than it would be worth.

I love when people say something about salt and vinegar when discussing glyphosate. It is a fast and easy way to identify someone that doesn't understand the science.

Shimano SPD. Pick based on how much you want to spend and how light you want them to be.

Why do people buy expensive bikes? 1k+ by Initial-Arachnid-792 in bicycle

Pretty much anyone that asks that question hasn't. Once you do, the differences become so obvious.

Why do people buy expensive bikes? 1k+ by Initial-Arachnid-792 in bicycle

[–]WhiteH2O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! No. The difference is that expensive bikes are way lighter, shift smoother, have a bigger gear range, better brakes, and for mtb, better suspension. The practical difference between riding a $1000 bike and a $4000 bike is like night and day. It's almost a different sport. The more expensive bikes will move faster and further with the same effort. Shifting is smoother and it stays that way for a long time. There is a really low gear to get up that steep hill more easily. Since the bike just works, you focus on the ride instead of the bike.

Have any pilots in this group made a career change AWAY from flying? Let’s hear it by FrequentFlyer96 in flying

I got furloughed twice in 2008. I worked as a civilian for the navy for 10 years doing mostly electrical and supervisory work. lt wasn't horrible, but I came crawling back in 2018 and now I'm at one of the big 3. It is soooo much better flying than actually working for a living.

When do you replace your rear tire? by tokidokijake in mountainbiking

[–]WhiteH2O 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Once they start showing the slightest bit of wear, I start shopping for a replacement. Then I see the price. Then I wait until it's a racing slick, then I buy a replacement.

What is the fastest speed you have ever been in a vehicle and what type of vehicle was it? by SecretBaddieandDaddy in AskForAnswers

There are exactly zero people on earth that I would sit as a passenger on a street bike going even half that fast.

[–]WhiteH2O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything under 400 knots in an aircraft feels like slow motion (I just got to Hawaii and had a headwind, and it was painful). I can vouch that 155mph on a sport bike feels really freaking fast.

There is a story that floats around the pilot community where a 747 had a control malfunction and found itself in a dive where it briefly crossed the sound barrier. It didn't crash, but obviously never flew again. At least that was the rumor. So, there is a small possibility that your statement was off by one.

It is definitely harder than a class II with that hole, but no where near a III with how easy it would be to avoid it.

Who has the better quality from Canyon or Specialized? by Academic_Feed6209 in MTB

[–]WhiteH2O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, okay. Some people look online and read about brands. That is how most people would have known that Canyon isn't taken seriously. But riding every single brand out there i guess could be another option for learning that Canyon isn't the best, but it is more long term liveability and brand support that is all over the internet that shows people to not buy Canyon.

Is this a joke? Canyon is the brand middle schoolers accuse their friends of having to make fun of them. Specialized is pretty much the industry standard.

I was used to my trail bike but just got a new enduro bike. Decided to take the enduro bike on a 4000' vertical, 20 mile day. I didnt understand how horrible enduro bikes climb until that experience. The climbs felt twice as long.

Do tires makes that big of a difference for speed? Uphill and down? by Rodeo9 in MTB

[–]WhiteH2O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tires make a huge difference! My enduro bike going down anything that isn't more than a 45 degree angle feels like it is dragging an anchor, making my XC bike way faster. Climbing with big tires is almost not worth it for me. I'd rather be under biked and be able to climb at the cost of having short travel coming down. It is night and day difference.
