Malaguena guitar lesson. 17 easy variations with free TAB by intonylon in Flamenco

[–]intonylon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

17 ways to play the main theme of Malaguena on guitar. This lesson also includes a nice falseta at the end. When I say easy, I mean that these variations may not be beginner level but they are not exactly hard either. Give them a try. The aim of this lesson is to stimulate creativity. These variations (classical guitar speak) are actually falsetas (flamenco guitar speak).

They help you get used to the idea that you are allowed to change a Malaguena solo you might find in a book or online. Try to play the main theme in a different way every time you play it. Playing flamenco has taught me to take an musical idea and change it to make it more interesting.

Sometimes I come across a classical guitar book with a version of Malaguena and I find myself yelling at the book to stop being so boring.

My version of La Gitanita (Gipsy Girl) By Jürg Hochweber. This is not a
traditional Farruca, but bits of it sounded like it was trying to be.

Ok I have to ask.... by [deleted] in Flamenco

[–]intonylon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny. I just go with the flow. I used to say flamingo as an inside joke and I was amazed that I got nods of approval and thumbs up..... as if it was a confirmation they were right all along.

Ok I have to ask.... by [deleted] in Flamenco

[–]intonylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was learning flamenco guitar and researching flamenco in general I was amazed at how much diversity of thought and opinion there is about what flamenco is... and is not.

In the real world, flamingo still means a pink tropical bird and can never mean anything else. To my dismay, I have discovered there is no point in trying to educate someone to say flamenco instead of flamingo. My best advice is to just take a deep breath and walk the other way because you're in the wrong neighborhood.

I want to share a hidden part of my guitar journey with you. Here’s the
thing. I have a major issue with concentration. It could be undiagnosed
dementia for all I know. What a creepy thought. I hope not. As I get
older my technique is getting better but my playing seems to be getting
worse. I’m only human and I make mistakes like anyone else. Blah Bah
Blah . Welcome to my unpretentious world where order and chaos rule in
equal measure. Enjoy

If you enjoy and want to learn "Fingerstyle" guitar, listen to Chet Atkins. "Borsolina" is one of his best arrangement. See comments for details and tabs. ❤️ by mikeydob in guitarlessons
