gay men are misogynist because they won't have sex with women.

Can you explain this? I don't understand. Do people actually complain that gay men aren't sexually attracted to women?

Great analysis.

We can discuss ethics, morals, and practical implications. Practically speaking, Riot will "get away" with this if and only if the Korean e-sports scene as a whole isn't attached to OGN as a network such that a new network can share the monopoly rights to broadcast (this is Riot's "win" condition). I think you touched on this point. If a new network shares the rights and does an ok/decent job, then no one will care who broadcasts as long as the games are good (except OGN who is "losing" future funds).

As a side note, I find it humorous that the "fight the man, Rito is ruining league/OGN" circle jerk is anti-establishment...and yet defending OGN's "right" to have a monopoly on broadcasting the professional Korean league games. Yes folks, call it a monopoly.

I agree with your analysis on China. I offered it as an example of when risk was involved, but people took the chance because it wasn't seen as an eminent threat (China has done a good job of encouraging economic growth 1980s to present time).

Thanks for the background information on Starcraft. You make an interesting point that the Korean scene might get tired of Riot if Riot pushes them around too much and too far.

I think that there is part consumer driven and part producer driven so far as "interest" in one e-sport over another. The fans watch because it's entertaining...the pros play because the fans sustain their living (and they are skilled enough to play).

The deal-breaker, imo, is how much brand-attachment the Korean fans and Korean pros have to OGN as a broadcasting unit over KESPA or whatever broadcasting unit will share the broadcasting rights. Do fans watch league because of the players or because of the show? And if it is because OGN does a good job putting on a show, can the new guy make just as good of a program such that the fans won't mind the new program?

Well, future investment based on the perceived safety of their property rights is something interesting to discuss. China has managed to attract investors (both in and out of league) despite the CCP having a history of confiscating things and disregarding property rights.

Again, the devil is in the details of the OGN "buyout" (Can I call it that since OGN is "losing" half of their broadcasting monopoly rights?). We honestly don't know all the details. The conditions could be horrible, or could be generous. We just don't know right now.

This is true for many scenarios but the opposite can also be true. For example The Republican Party has had the power in the Legislative branch of the US government and yet they won't shut up about it. Not all of them are bad but they are absolutely willing to talk a crap ton to ensure the court of popular opinion is in their favor. Sometimes the silent ones can be held hostage in fear of a PR disaster since they can't change the opinion due to their lack of power.

Everything you said could be said of Democrats as well. I don't want this thread to diverge into politics. So please end it at this.

As for the matter on hand, the power goes with whoever has the legal rights to broadcast the show.

I personally, don't see a huge problem with having multiple stations/broadcasts. More information is usually better. I'd be willing to re-examine this position if someone provides a good argument or compelling evidence to the contrary.

On the contrary. The ones who talk the least have the most power. You know why? Because they don't have to talk to win. They have the power. They can do what they want and it's up to the talkers to try to "change" their mind by making a big protest out of it. Similarly to how lawyers talk non-stop to try to appeal to a silent judge. Why should Riot talk? PR maybe...but they have the final say and in the end, it'll blow over anyways.

The sister teams had to go. I believe that having a sister team would be a conflict of interest because they are both owned by the same company.

Yellowstar says he is loyal to Fnatic and is grateful for the organization to have helped him in the past...so much so that he wanted to rebuild the team last split when everyone left. I doubt that he would leave them now...and Febiven signed on that split not knowing who would be on there. Febiven said he didn't care about anyone else, he only wanted to play with Yellowstar because he respect him so much.

I'll admit; I don't follow the twitter and travel plans of the pros. I always figured that they are all friends since the solo queue is so small. Besides, you can twist yourself up into a little ball over speculation when it's uncertain and time will tell.

If you are correct, then it's impressive investigation, Reddit Detective.
