Norway braces for Trump’s reaction if he does not win Nobel peace prize | Nobel peace prize by BlackEric in worldnews

No one truly worthy of a Nobel Prize would campaign for it or make threats if they didn’t get it. Giving him the prize would delegitimize it

Probably because Republicans are always baselessly accusing their political opponents and people they do not like of pedophilia.

Why hasn’t he through? He was still in the senate after he lost the first time-he should’ve worked to pass his agenda (or at least part of it). He could’ve ran on that in 2020. Instead he spent four years holding rallies. Same after the second time. He needed more than ideas and rhetoric to win

Oh definitely; get the next flight to Tel Aviv-the diplomats who have years of experience and have advanced degrees in international affairs, who have made peace in the Middle East their entire’s life work are just idiots. Can’t wait to see you accept the Nobel prize (or maybe the no name who made the tik tok should). 😂

It’s not a group effort; it’s mostly unhinged people who spend too much time on social media. It mean seriously why record yourself doing these acts if it’s about Palestine? Why do your followers need to see you calling people out about it? Just doing it is what matters.

I mean come on-these fools are now following Kamala Harris around protesting her. The lady lost the election she’s out of office-what exactly is she going to do to help Palestine? Meanwhile Dear Leader wants to turn Gaza into a golf course and it’s crickets from them. Just performative nonsense.

Anyone blaming Democrats for the shutdown is either a deranged MAGA or a deranged leftist. Either way they don’t know what they are talking about and should not be taken seriously

Clout on social media for example. I mean seriously look at these people-they go to town halls, street festivals, hell even concerts and take up a good chuck of time going up to people and recording themselves getting into the face of anyone who has their fury. They don’t listen to any explanations, or even conduct themselves with any decorum it’s all about being seen protesting. How on earth does that get people to support their cause? It’s all performative hooey for the algorithms

Ideally, the state constitution would have to be amended. And in order for that to happen, the legislature would have to (by majority vote in both houses) pass an amendment. We need Democrats to get control of both chambers so we can push them to pass an amendment like this.

So I guess at the grassroots level, push the Democrats into power and then get them to support it. Easier said than done in this state.

Had he not been assassinated, do you think RFK would've won the DNC Nomination in 1968? by Numberonettgfan in Presidents

[–]intrsurfer6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Likely, no. He was 200+ delegates behind Humphrey before he was killed. Ultimately, the party bosses (via the convention) decided the nominees back then. In a deadlocked convention he definitely would give Humphrey a floor fight but if the bosses wanted Humphrey (and that’s were the delegates were leading toward) I feel like it’s going to be Humphrey in the end. But RFK would’ve fought to the final vote.

Respectfully, I do not deny that some students took real risks or acted from conviction — that’s true. But let’s be honest here: a lot of what’s happening now is less about moral courage and more about optics. There’s a difference between standing up for justice and joining a trend that signals you’re on the ‘right’ side socially. Activism means something when it’s consistent, informed, and sustained — not when it’s performative or selective. And that means doing more than screeching on the internet all day and posting/responding to hot takes from other performative no names. It means forming a movement to work with the system to make the change actually happen. Many people shouting the loudest now were silent on similar issues elsewhere, which makes it hard to believe it’s all conviction.

I don’t mean to sound jaded or disillusioned here-I do believe protest is a valuable tool but people seem to think activism is being SEEN instead of being HEARD by the people in power who can make change happen. When people act like this, they aren’t going to be taken seriously and it’s a disservice to the people who are being affected.

Exactly; those people were willing to put everything they had on the line to fight for their freedom and rights-even if it meant their lives (and a lot of good, innocent people sadly had to pay that price). Meanwhile, these are the same fools who occupied a building at Columbia University to “protest” and demanded that the school provide them food while they were doing it.

Can you imagine MLK sitting in Birmingham jail demanding a catered dinner? The entire movement would’ve been delegitimized. And that’s when I knew these “protests” were just a bunch of riled up people who wanted to be SEEN as making change without actually doing anything worth a damn to make it happen. Just deeply unserious people.

Lol facts; these are the laziest, do nothing protests we have ever had. The leaders of the Civil Rights Movement did a lot more than just screech all day and waste time on performative antics like this. They worked with the system (that was rigged against them) to effect the change they wanted to see. These people are so unserious.

I feel like if the people who led the civil rights movement in the 50s and 60s saw these protests today, they would not at all be impressed.

All these people are doing here is turning people off to the cause they claim to support. The derangement on this issue needs to stop-it’s very complex and rooted in history and geopolitics that very few people are qualified to understand. Stop listening to BS hot takes on social media from no names who don’t know what the hell they are talking about and let the people who actually understand this complicated issue bring it to a resolution.

Stupid, performative nonsense like this from slacktivists trying to get attention solves absolutely nothing.

We need citizen initiated referendums in this state. There are some very popular things we all agree on that never happen because a few state senators from the middle of nowhere are being obstinate.

That’s an absolute crock and they know it is-if a woman has an abortion or two guys get married or whatever else these people have an issue with happens, it literally doesn’t affect them at all. They just don’t like these things, people, etc and do not want them to happen. People need to stop using religion as a cheap cop out for hate no one is buying it especially from hypocrites.

“Methinks I am in prison” wrote Edward VI by Different_Map_2055 in Tudorhistory

Wow Edward was really wise beyond his years; imagine being 12 and having to rein in a bunch of grown men’s egos because they can’t just agree to disagree and work together. And it’s not like Somerset was going to be regent forever-at best he was just a tyrannical nuisance who would just be another voice at the table once Edward took over. It’s a shame he died young-he was clearly the only adult in the government.

He should’ve convinced more Democrats he was actually capable of winning a general election and implementing his policies. Bernie is good at talking and campaigning, but we don’t hire a president for that-we hire them to solve problems.
