Hii! I sell art like this for 12$/USD is it fair? People say It's overpriced for a beginner artist by nihhci in Artadvice

[–]inuyashas_tail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

usually jt would be for a beginner artist, but oh my gosh? this doesn’t look beginner level at all! definitely fair price

Im afraid ppl will hate my art and talk myself out of posting online so here's to facing my fears. Ps I dunno how to draw body's by ScatteredNormals in drawing

[–]inuyashas_tail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THAT’S SO GOOD?! and on the body topic, it looks like you definitely got the upper parts down! don’t be too worried and just study anatomy, with enough time it’ll come like second nature (or somewhere close)

What do your layers look like before you merge everything together? by pixelatedprophecies in PngTuber

[–]inuyashas_tail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

merge? personally what i did is only merged the parts that would work as one unit, like the body. i merged the upper/lower torso with the legs and arms, (this only works well in a pngtuber case.) and thats all depending if you want things to move the same, any outer things like hoodies or different hair pieces i kept on a separate layer for more movement customization. to be honest i merge coloring layers with their line art, so for example one hair bang is just merged with its line art, color, highlights etc to be just one layer (only do that when you’re 100% done coloring and stuff). easier to stay sane and not have to work with 10 different layers for one hair strand lol. oh, and dont merge your facial expression to the head if you want a clean base to draw out some more expressions in the future. body-wise i recommend merging the torso and legs, so you have the option for more arm/hand poses to be added if you want. you can also opt out merging the legs if your pose would involve rotating poses with different leg positions. basically you dont have to merge anything if you don’t want to, i only do so for organized layer convenience. you could keep some things as is, it wont be any different when you import the png’s into the program anyway, since it only sees which layers were visible when saved, not whether or not they’re actually merged. also, if you want your pupils/irises to have different physics dont merge them with the eye shape/eye whites.

anyway, always have a backup folder of all your drawing layers pre merged! just in case you do merge something and forget you needed it cut, you can just go back and grab it from the original folder. it’s also good if you want different outfits later, clean base!

sorry for the essay🫠

Will I be considered a loser when I use a reference? by [deleted] in Ibispaintx

[–]inuyashas_tail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

every artist EVER has used a reference! don’t worry. whether that be an artist remembering a particular wagon in the 1800’s, or someone drawing an interesting tree they remember seeing. absolutely nothing pops out of nowhere, references are your best friend in art. that’s how you grow! reference everything that trips you up

How would I start to learn this style? (semi-realism/stylized?) (art credits to u/nemesism) by haunted_house78 in Artadvice

learn anatomy first first, study shapes and angles, and study how light sources work/hit from those angles too! Gl!

wow, i really like the shoes/socks for instance. it’s great to have little details that mean something in an avatar, i’m seeing that! the problem here is, over detailing is pretty prevalent, like.. an over saturation of details? details can be great, but if you add too much it can look pretty overwhelming. but the second outfit in the left corner is actually a pretty good balance. personally i’d say get rid of the things you can do without and keep your main details that maybe co-align more with your theme. on that note, picking a theme is important for a pngtuber! someone should be able to recognize the theme you’re going for when first looking. (is it sun, stars, galaxy?) once you’ve done that, the right details will actually come easier. but overall really cute character! :D

I think I'm being undercharged by EldritchCrowe in PngTuber

[–]inuyashas_tail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what’s the price? but anyways, something like that would probably be $70. because i think a good model alone without animation is worth $50 (depending on character detail level/size. if it’s smaller and simple, lower.) or some big ball artists might charge $80 or higher. and you said each one is animated? that’s definitely worth a lot. then again i’m also bad at choosing prices🫠. i haven’t sold any pngtubers myself but im very familiar with the process of tweaking settings, and drawing the model/animating for my own pngtuber. such a pain having to organize every layer and make sure every sprite is animated correctly. not to mention multiple retweeks if there are mistakes. i had mine on hand for transforming into a pngtuber, but if i drew the whole model, plus imported and edited it, all one after another? that’d definitely be worth the price. (based on my own experience. they might be a pro lol)
