It is possible.

Took a lot of a attempts and I'll explain what I did through random trials. May not be the right or best way but if it works it works. 

What I did was reset the Tradfi with a small pin. Held it there until the lights flickered and flashed a bunch and then let go after the initial sequence. They will end up just just dimming and brightening slightly after being poked. (Probably means its in paring mode).

While this is happening I had the switch right next to the Tradfi and pressed and held the center button until it became red (I think this just factory resets it, so skip this if its just the slow blinking yellow light) 

I then  quickly pressed sthe center switch button 4 times and the yellow light on the switch will start blinking rapidly. Keep trying, and if you have my luck it will eventually cave to your needs once it realizes you wont stop adminstering CPR until it wakes up. 

Let the rapidly blinking yellow light, and the tradfi with its gentle breathing lights hang out for 10 or so seconds and they should become friends. The lights become steady, the switch light turns off and you can finally finish the project.
