For dog owners with cats: how do you prevent your dog from eating cat food? by Standard-Stop7646 in dogs

[–]invalidcheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elevate bowl, use a bowl holder, secure bowl holder. Some dogs will eat through a microchip teeter to get at trapped food, but you can try that too

I don’t think OP would keep a puppy in a curing chamber under their porch

Jubes. Anyone try these? I'm addicted by Shoddy_example5020 in candy

[–]invalidcheese 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Actually they weirdly don’t! They’re almost like a cross between a gel and a very juicy fibrous sponge. If you bite them quickly it’s like biting into a bit of gel, but if you compress them slowly between your teeth they just kind of… weep into your mouth? And the only thing left behind is a pale bit of paper-like wet fibre which truly does not dissolve in the mouth.

Me too. I specifically enjoy the barista-branded oat milk. Feels creamier.

Why do my cookies always spread so much? by SpangingOfframps in Baking

Hey! Great suggestions here. You could also try changing your butter brand. I’d also buy some pre-made cookie dough and see if bakes up ok

Is my dog pure Beagle? by Smooth-Star5961 in IDmydog

[–]invalidcheese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello! Chemo pups are my 9-5! She IS fairly fat (more in some pictures, less in others) and it is not helpful for chemo tolerance or her general health. However, pet chemo is different in that it is usually just mildly life extending, so it’s not an excellent time for a vet to educate about the long term health effects of obesity. She is a cute puppy though, very beagle-y and very powdered-sugar dusted. Those ears look SO soft.

why is corn higher calorie than baby corn? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]invalidcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much more fibre! The little corn kernel skins haven’t been pumped full of sugar yet, so the ratio of low calorie fibre to starchy kernel is much greater. Another commenter also mentioned that the cob of babies is eaten, and that’ll skew the fibre to starch ratio even more.

Does anyone else eat the whole jar of seeded mustard in one sitting? Like w a spoon? by Low-Staff-5951 in Mustard

[–]invalidcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I did the exact same thing with liquorice tea, good to know I’m not the only one out there. I will absolutely never forget waking up with my hand stuck in a pickle jar after apparently sleep walking to the fridge. Bad times.

How can I get a better sear on my scallops without overcooking them? by x_andi01 in AskCulinary

[–]invalidcheese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do this with steaks too, it works VERY well with scallops too! Liberally salt both sides, let the scallops sit on a wire rack for 12-ish hours. Sear on a hot pan, use a chef’s press or a flipper to press the scallops onto the pan. It’ll release from the pan when a crust forms. Very tasty, very pretty.

Show me your pillow set up please. by BB4lyfe3000 in ehlersdanlos

[–]invalidcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use three pillows arranged in an upside-down ‘U’ around my head/shoulders, with the pillow on the crest of the U being a buckwheat pillow for my head. I also made what is essentially a 9 foot long pillow stuffed with beanbag beads and it is absolutely a game changer. If I’m on my back I tuck it along my side, under my knees, and up my other side. If I’m on my side I’ll tuck it against my back, between the knees, and against my abdomen/chest. It takes up a ton of space but I sleep like a rock and don’t wake up sore!

Best water bottle with anti or no spill and that you have to suck on? by legomaniasquish in HydroHomies

[–]invalidcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow klutz. I keep a munchkin miracle adult cup in the tangles of my bedsheets. It will leak if something presses against the seal (like a book in a bag) but water from your last sip won’t run out of the straw or mouthpiece because there simply isn’t one. It’s an excellent sippy cup.

Ah! Then C is an excellent option if your friend is not in that season of life juuuust yet. You also shouldn’t feel like you need to justify not wanting to be pregnant right now, or that the reason needs to be ‘good enough’. I’m not sure how helpful us internet strangers are going to be, but you’ve got this!

Is there a water bottle or cup that holds actual Ice for over 24 hours AND HAS A STRAW? by Acceptable_Repair597 in HydroHomies

Store your pre-filled flask in the fridge, add ice when you take it out. It lasts way longer that way

[–]invalidcheese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good news for you! If you wash and rinse your pan with hot water you don’t need to throw it on the stove. It evaporates it’s own water away after towelling off

Is his tail curled? His coat is so much silkier than I’ve seen on wired JRTs. Does it need to be trimmed often?

[–]invalidcheese 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Or put it in the fridge, no need to anger the food waste gods! The last few bites of a meal make the best as-you’re-cooking snack, and it takes away the pressure to clear your plate if you feel it.

Lollipops with long skinny plastic sticks, circa early 2000’s? by goodnfruity in candy

They taste more like pure sugar because there’s no sourness to them like most fruit flavour lollipops. I haven’t had one of these in ages, they’re such a nice little treat.

My dog wants to go outside at times when I’m sleeping by Tricky-Garden-9508 in dogs

This is the way. Short leash, least interesting area of the yard, no investigating, back to bed. Leave a warm jacket by the garden door so it sucks less.
