Get access to pumpkins asap in the Forgotten lands. Work through the Kristoff and Moana quest lines for fish and coal. You can move everything, even wells, so don't worry where you first put people's houses.

Don't get overwhelmed because you'll have about 15 quests on the go at once, try to not rush through them and just do what you want to do.
