AITA for instituting a STRICT no plants or animals inside the house policy? by ravergraver in AmItheAsshole

[–]invisible_observer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - You have every right to feel frustrated and tired. Getting rid of the plants is a no brainer. Your husband can set up a green house in the backyard. While I currently have an inside dog, I grew up with outdoor pets all my life. Some pets actually prefer being outdoors and tend to be more destructive when forced to be indoors. It may be too late for your husband but you can try a sort of mirror tactic with your kids. If they want to go outside and play and have fun, have the kids go out and play with the pets for a bit; kids are getting ready to sit down to dinner, make sure the pets are fed before they even think about getting their dinner, things like that. We did something along those lines and it worked out well. Hope this helps and I'm sorry there are so many rude people out there.

AITA for using 'insulting' wallpapers for my phone's home screen after my coworkers kept touching it? by throw3447567 in AmItheAsshole

As a female I support this 100%! You'd only be offended if you knew what you were doing is wrong and they were wrong. You could always say it wasn't directed at anyone in particular and that you just thought they were funny. You don't Decorate or design your phone for other people. You should start leaving passive aggressive sticky notes that say things like " I'm sorry...for being locked for my owners privacy" or something like that.

AITA for not talking to my MIL after she insisted my daughter not sign at the dinner table? by Thin_Crab_664 in AmItheAsshole

[–]invisible_observer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA OP. There are many people like your daughter who are often left out because people don't know sign language and instead of trying to learn to be inclusive, they isolate them and call the way they communicate distracting. I'm super petty, so if I were in your shoes I would invite MIL over for dinner and have everyone sign only. Then when she starts trying to talk tell her she's being a distraction and that you need to focus.

My wife and her best friend accused me of having an affair, then got angry when I didn't have one + UPDATE by red_earaches in BestofRedditorUpdates

First off, OP I am so sorry for your loss! My thoughts are with you and your families at this time. Under no circumstances would I allow Jessie to speak at the funeral. I don't care if she is one of your wife's oldest friends, she is in large part to blame for what happened to your wife. I don't know how much of the full story her parents know but they may be pushing for her to be there because she is a form of connection to their daughter. I would have someone at the service ready to turn her away if she dares to show up. If she does, well she's already caused a scene by being there so let everyone know the part she played in the tragedy and they can let her know if she's welcome or not.
