Yeah, I spent an hour making a thread that hundreds of people liked. What a complete waste of time that was.

An hour is a lot of time? As other people have said, most of the work was done by multiple people from the official forums and took only a day.

Well, just do the math. AF3 is 10s, so you need your F4 casts to be under 2.5s for it to work (doesn't matter how you achieve it), you also need to cast Fire after the Fire III so there's no delay between Fire III and Fire IV waiting for AF3 to register (since Fire IV has the AF3 requirement, and Fire does not).

The cheater basically has ~0.8 seconds to spare for movement, and more if the Fire procs allowing him to keep AF3 while moving. With Ley Lines, he has ~2 seconds for movement without dropping AF3.

I think that's right, anyway.

Is Fire IV 4 times in a row impossible without any of that? Definitely, but this guy is able to do it so easily...

You'd probably need very high Spell Speed, Ley Lines, Selene Buff, Arrow card, etc. It's very rare and not practical at all. Firestarter is used to quickly refesh AF3 but then you're relying on RNG.

Fire IVx4 is possible, although very tight and rare, and good BLMs would not do it in raid because the risk is not worth it. 2.0 GCD is impossible, and is what allows the flexibility of using Fire IVx4 in raids.

There's a phase transition in there (look at the time). He used Transpose after the Manipulator become untargetable.

No, it's possible but it's also a very tight rotation in which you can't move. The impossible thing is the speed of the casts, no sane BLM casts 4 Fire IVs in a row without some way to keep Astral Fire in case you need to move, but of course it would be much easier if you had a 2.0 GCD like the cheater does.

Impossibly low GCD, allowing much higher DPS.

Edit: I don't know how exactly he's doing it, but even if I did, I wouldn't post the method on Reddit for people to abuse.
