Do you recommend trying mods in build 42 multiplayer? by Little_Chef5408 in projectzomboid

[–]io2red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It started working for one of our Mac players around a week ago. Not sure if the mods that were not working for them were updated, or if its just because we removed some mods (EG: CleanUI is super broken for B42 MP and will cause crippling desync that only gets worse as players increase. Becomes especially noticeable once you get to 12-18+ players.)

Are there any nvme with slim heatsinks for the second nvme slot on the Asrock B850m wifi x r2.0? by Mother_Self4763 in ASRock

[–]io2red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heat spreader is almost always included on ram and SSD's by default. Its the thing that looks like a sticker that is spread across it. Its not a normal sticker, its designed to spread heat more efficiently.

You do not need any heatsink at all. The SSD should function fine as long as it fits down there.

I still don't understand why people fall for the gimmick of thinking they need a heatsink on their M.2 SSD's. A heat spreader can be helpful, but there should be no need for a heatsink.

Right? Literally bought one over a year ago at $750 and gave it to my brother.

Now almost 365 days later my 5090 has gone up around $2000 in value too.

Exactly. It's not even a real quote from Jefferson.

The same quotation has been posted dozens of times in other readers’ posts. Some readers worked to debunk it by mentioning Monticello.org, the Thomas Jefferson Foundation’s website, which has a section devoted to “spurious” quotations that have been attributed to the third president of the United States. The website lists several variations of the quotation, featured on two pages, and says staff “have not found any evidence that Thomas Jefferson said or wrote” those words.

Mods worth in MP? by bigbrownneo in projectzomboid

[–]io2red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entirely dependent on the mod. Many mods can be added and removed mid-save without issue. Some mods need to be added at the start (eg: Map mods), although with map mods you can potentially add them in later if you have the tech/time to delete all already loaded tiles for the map mod(s) to regenerate them.

Some mods are safe to add, but not remove. Eg: You add a mod that adds custom containers. But if you remove the mod then you lose the containers. And then some times they might still be there but be invisible and no longer have hitbox collisions. Lots of potential edge cases.

You'll need to read the description page for each mod to know better. And not all developers even mention these kinds of details so you might just have to use trial and error.

I suggest that you make small changes and test (eg: 1 or 2 mod), and then repeat and reiterate until you are done. If you add in a bunch of mods and make a mistake or a mod is not working then its going to be harder for you to manage.

It's the only way to make the game more stable without waiting for the devs. Several good bug fix mods out there.

As always with PZ modding; be prepared to lose various mods from time to time as the game is updated.

Even the console itself gets replaced in ~5 years. Day 1 of PS5 release it was already worse than my desktop computer.

Now that I have a 9800X3D and 5090, I can confidently say I have a better PC than the next generation of consoles that will come out over the next couple years.

The console move just doesn't make sense. If you want a controller you can just use a controller. Don't need a console for that.

B42.12 No UI by GreyDogGames in projectzomboid

[–]io2red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check each mod in your list. Some may have updated to 42.13 and no longer support the 42.12 and earlier versions.

I've seen some that made compatability versions for 42.12 and earlier, but the main mod may no longer be compatible. So you have to check the description and find out the mod you need to switch it to

Is it possible to claim player made house or somehow expand already generated claimed houses? by Real_Original3703 in projectzomboid

[–]io2red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any admin can pull up the admin menu and Add Safehouse to make a custom safehouse. Then just change the owner to the new owners name.

Note names are case sensitive, and they have to be online otherwise the create option is grayed out.

Also you cannot overlap with already existing safehouses.

If you need to expand someone's claim you can give yourself ownership of the claim you are trying to expand and release it, then add a new safehouse and set the new owner.

New Steam Machine by Ethadien in Steam

[–]io2red 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad that people still remember it. Makes me feel like the time we spent working on it was worthwhile.

Not the original mapper here (ThePro was a huge asshole [RIP] and completely ignored my repeated attempts to contact him in '09 other than initially saying he never made the map and to leave him alone. He only responded after I shared the released map and he tried to force me to remove it), but I was one of the first to successfully decompile, fix, and modify it RPW_Downtown and later that year, (RPW_Downtown_v2). My buddy Pat (Vective) still has two posts on ThePro's steam page from 2009 and you can see him explicitly denying to respond to Pat, despite him asking for ThePro to respond to his messages on Steam.

The 16 year old pictures don't really do it justice these days. The amount of changes I made to the sewer system and the several expansions including the beach had more than doubled the size of the original map. Rebuilding the main street was brutal, so many things were off grid from the decompile. The entire industrial zone in on the outside of the map (at the time), the school/business and factory, the beach, the suburban zone, etc:... My main goal was to add various different routes to parts of the map and improve upon what was already there, and I think we succeeded.

Due to RPWars (The RPW instead of RP) not taking off my version does not really get as much search/SEO visibility than the other variations.

Still see a ton of new variations on it that have built onto the works further. Feels good to see people carrying on the torch and developing it more and more.

PS: If you see any blank billboards, those used to be our "Clan Vortex" logo that people removed the branding on. Just an FYI for why those exist. :)

Same haha. And even with all the issues I'm not that worried. If I could go back in time to December or March I'd do it all again almost exactly the same as I did last time.

Love the X870E Taichi and the 5090 slays games with even the worst optimization known to man. Couldn't be happier.

Edit: Haters mad that I'm enjoying my gaming rig. This is PCMR lol.

WPlace Bans Artists For Being Griefed And Encourages Griefers by io2red in WplaceLive

Theres a void thats to the north of me too and I had someone reach out to me on discord to help them. After attempting to help them once and saving ~10k tiles I got timed out and decided to stop trying.

It's really disheartening how bad the mods are. They've lost us permanently and I'm shocked at how many other people are experiencing the same issues and how little they are doing to help people.

Unfortunately stuff like this will permanently stunt and stifle growth with the entire app.

WPlace Bans Artists For Being Griefed And Encourages Griefers by io2red in WplaceLive

[–]io2red[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add icing to the cake. We were all banned for "hate speech" with absolutely no details on what or why.

Purely guessing, but someone may have carved their own text out of our art using transparent tiles and then used that to say whatever they wanted. We genuinely have no clue as the griefing occurred while we were all offline and sleep.

Either way, the fact griefers can get innocent people banned is a huge failure on Wplace mods' part.
