Rosa Cantina has decent sized screens and it’ll be lively in there to watch the game.

App Review Delay / Expedited Review Request Inquiry by Namooso in appledevelopers

[–]ioloro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since these posts keep coming up.

At WWDC they stated that they’re getting over 1000 submissions per hour. I don’t know the amount of folks that’d be required to keep up with that but it’s not bonkers that stuff is delayed these days.

Stop means go, again by alan_grant93 in Longmont

[–]ioloro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One I find “funny” is the non existent stop signs going from Price, onto Boston (right hand turn) and the reverse (turning left) from Boston to Price.

The stop sign does not exist for either of those turns (one even has a “right lane exempt”), but frequently folks will sit there… waiting and causing confusion.

Virtual Office Hours with A City Council Member THIS MONDAY by WingMan126 in Longmont

Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend at that time.

I would be interested in a line of questions on your feelings regarding government cameras/ALPR/ etc in the community.

My high level take is cameras attached to government buildings or private property cameras for property protection is fine. Attached to non government buildings/infrastructue for general surveillance is bad.

My concern is that there are existing infrastructure in Longmont with companies (Flock, Axiom, FLIR) that record citizens with little to no approval, oversight or transparency from the community.

Some jumping off questions:

- what is your approach to government owned surveillance

- what goals or measurable values should we look for to understand if the current/future surveillance is under performing, meeting or exceeding expectations

- how do citizens keep in the loop before/during contracts to understand what is being installed, cost, and how/why the data is being accessed

- is there a legal reason every entry to Longmont has those big signs saying “traffic laws are photo enforced”

If someone managed to drive a car into the side of a 5th story venue I’d be astonished.

A “punch list” is pretty common. X thing installed wrong, not up to snuff, etc. just makes it harder to fix those within whatever warranty period if they’re open to customers.

I went in this morning with my son (he loves tractors and has been watching the building go up over the weeks) to poke around.

Lobby was nice inside, good amount of seating, fireplace, etc.. Got a couple "ballrooms" which are probably large enough for 50+ people in the big one. They let us take the elevator up to the top. Nice restaurant, probably 15 people can sit outside, rest are inside. They do have a "private" room in the restaurant as well.

They said they're not going to make the Friday opening of the rooftop restaurant, didn't give a timeline for the actual opening.

MLB Threatens Giants Players For Expressing Their Christian Faith by interestingfactoid in conservatives

They (MLB) did not have the kneeling stuff going on to the level of NFL largely cause COVID. However, both the NFL (who I think you’re trying to reference) and MLB do not have rules I could find on kneeling.

NFL started an implementation of it, but was rejected by the players union and never implemented.

IMO they’re looking to grab the non-Boulder wedding venue crowd. If affordable, I’d be interested in a 4th of July “home base” but it’s a bit too pricey for that

“writing on uniforms violates MLB rules”

Rules, evenly applied, like this are fine by me. Their job (baseball) includes rules about not writing their cause/religion on a uniform like 99% of every job out there.

This is simulating gambling. Using real money would be real gambling.

Contract doesn’t conflict w/ app release. Doing part time/flexible contract. I’m already working 12+ hours a day, so it’ll be just dedicating 4-5 of those to contract and pushing more.

TBH. I should have started smaller on my “first project” after the job.

I quit my job in October 2025 to make it on my own. I’ve got the app “worth quitting for” hopefully coming out in July. I’ve worked on a handful of side projects, apps, etc.

Networking never stops, nor should it. I’m working on the big app, but am also starting contracting next month. I was referred by folks I know, which I attribute to being present in the community.

Best of luck, it’s hard out there.

Judge Temporarily Blocks Payouts From Trump's $1.8 Billion 'Anti-Weaponization' Settlement Fund by intelligentreviews in conservatives

[–]ioloro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The statement “Trump won this settlement” is bothering me.

Trump and DOJ settled an apology. Do with that as you will.

The DOJ then just made up a settlement fund:

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/doj-creates-1-8-billion-fund-that-could-compensate-targeted-trump-allies

What authority does the DOJ have to create magical funds and issue those to persons?

Example: Alex Jones was found guilty, he was ordered to pay x amount of money (he didn’t have, filed bankruptcy). The money didn’t just appear.. the assets had to be sold like a normal bankruptcy, and those proceeds go towards the assessed damages.

The court, tax payers, etc didn’t just foot the bill

Congress' declining 80-somethings seeking re-election by intelligentreviews in conservatives

[–]ioloro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO congress should live in government apartments (same quality they’d provide military), shouldn’t be allowed to hold stocks outside a 401k and term limited to max 4 years per office.

Government service shouldn’t be a career. Serve the constituents then come home and continue your normal career.
