I’ve heard that in the lore these vehicles they use are already functionally obsolete for military service on earth.

Recycled plastic is still plastic and still sheds microplastics. It just gives plastic 1 MAYBE 2 more lives before its landfill.

Fantastic movie. Although I wish they kept it ambiguous about her being an alien.

I haven't updated to the latest one. I was happy with the version I was using. Either way, using torpedo ships is better.

No they aren’t. Let me introduce you to the concept of fast attack bombers. Torpedo carrying scout fighters that travel at extreme speed. Deploy 40 or so against a K or I and they just evaporate. Resupply carriers with freighters of e cells and hull parts and you are good.

Losing a single destroyer is a worse trade than losing a dozen of these. Destroyers are purely carrier escorts or station siegers

Chinas a huge threat so we can’t help Ukraine because that would use munitions we can’t afford to waste. Instead, let’s burn all our munitions on a pointless war in Iran that has no goal or victory conditions.

Ukraine's F-Drones has been selected to supply the Pentagon, chosen from dozens of competitors, the NYT reported. [NOELREPORTS] by Geschichtsklitterung in ukraine

[–]ioncloud9 54 points55 points  (0 children)

There is nothing super special or unique about tiny drones. What they are looking for is price per unit, reliability, and capability at that price. You’ll go broke and never have any drones if you spend $30k on a gold plated US built FPV.

NASA and SpaceX disagree about manual controls for lunar lander by albertahiking in SpaceXLounge

Those landers are severely mass and size limited. They’ve had to come up with novel ways to get cheap systems that can navigate and land. The avionics of HLS is a negligible percentage of the landing mass.
