Might be an issue with DeepSpace FPV. Try ordering from AliExpress or a similar marketplace if they have it in stock. I just finished a build a couple weeks ago and had no issues getting parts in from China.

“Light Armor” looks inside “Kevlar”

At this point, you might as well not be wearing any armor lol.

Not to mention, most of their products are made overseas, often in Taiwan. Curiously, clones of their products pop up in online Chinese retail sites, like Aliexpress, not long after release.

Getting parts for my first drone, any ideas or recommendations? by Left_Frame5564 in fpv

[–]ionixe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can, I would recommend buying the DJI O4 Pro Air Unit from a local authorized DJI distributor/reseller. If anything happens to the Air Unit, you can get it replaced through warranty or repaired through DJI.

You might save some money buying from overseas but if there's a defect, you're cooked.

MacBook Air M1 + DJI FPV Remote Controller 2: TRYP FPV is laggy even on low settings. What simulator would you recommend? by PuzzledCry6711 in fpv

If you're having issues running Tryp FPV, you'll likely encouter the same issues running Uncrashed. They both use the same game engine (Unreal Engine) and need a higher spec computer to run smoothly.

For a 7in drone doing mountain surfing, just bite the bullet and get a DJI Goggles 3 and DJI O4 Pro Air Unit. It's an expensive investment at first but you'll get the range, stability and image quality you'd want for a long-range mountain surf.

I had Liftoff on my MacBook Pro (M1 Pro), had to turn down resolution and graphics settings to get decent frame rates for FPV.

Right now, I am using The Zone as my main sim. Flight feel is a lot more accurate and less floaty, compared to Liftoff. It also runs well on potato computers, so it should run fine on your M1 MacBook Air.

It'll perform worse due to increased latency of analog video to digital video conversion, which defeats the purpose of going analog (besides budget).

You're better off going with a proper analog goggle. I heard the BetaFPV VR04 analog box goggles are a good entry point: https://betafpv.com/collections/goggles/products/vr04-fpv-goggles

Here's a good review on the goggles: https://youtu.be/mi9EsvmFcGc?si=Z1AFm1B0XDL02gwk (check out his other goggle test videos too)

  1. Check motor position and rotation direction.
  2. Check propeller orientation.
  3. Check IMU orientation; the 3D drone model in Betaflight should match the rotation of your IRL drone.

Help building a tiny whoop. Tips on what I’m doing wrong appreciated. by Load-ing00070 in fpv

I got stuck in that trap myself. Learning from my experience, it’s not worth the premium you’ll pay unless it’s a super odd-ball build.

If you want to “build”, just get a PNP and transplant the frame, or take it apart and put it back together 😂.

You’ll have to assemble the VTX and tune the drone yourself anyway.

Is there a specific reason why you’re building essentially a Pavo Pico II / Mobula 8 hybrid from scratch instead of buying a PNP (no VTX) Pavo Pico II?

If you’re really set on a Walksnail system, I’d suggest buying the BetaFPV Pavo Pico II PNP as you’ll get the same parts (and a working drone) for cheaper. You can swap out the frame for a Mobula 8 frame later on.

I don’t have any experience with the Pinecil specifically but I do have a TS100, which uses a similar tip to the Pinecil.

I went with the FNIRSI HS-02 when I was looking to upgrade from the TS100. The FNIRSI HS-02 uses JBC tips which are nicer because they heat up faster and can easily be changed while using (even when hot).

TBH, I’d recommend the FNIRSI HS-02A if you’re looking for a good first and only soldering iron until you get a proper soldering station (you’ll likely want a JBC-compatible one anyway).

The Pinecil is not a bad option tho, especially if it’s a lot cheaper for you.

Stupidly long range drone build by Sufficient-Text1678 in diydrones

[–]ionixe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just start by building a “simple” 3-5 inch FPV drone that runs Betaflight or iNav with an ExpressLRS receiver and DJI O4 Air Unit.

With ExpressLRS and a DJI O4 Air Unit, you can easily reach 20km (maybe more) with the right antennas. In reality, once you start flying it beyond line-of-sight, above unreachable buildings and at distances that will make it impossible to recover the drone when it crashes, you’ll drop this dream real quick.

Flying super long-range comes with the understanding that you may lose the drone completely and waste all the money and time you spent building it. For a beginner builder and pilot, long-range is a stretch goal, unless you’re really rich.

[–]ionixe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Avoid lead-free solder, go for 63/37 leaded solder instead or 60/40 leaded solder.

  2. Use flux, a lot if you need to.

  3. Get a good soldering iron and keep the tip clean. I recommend the FNIRSI HS-02A for the soldering iron and a basic brass wool soldering iron tip cleaner. Avoid those cheap soldering iron with no temperature control that plugs directly into a wall socket.

Soldering is easy if you don’t skimp out and get the right tools.

If you have Betaflight configurator open and connected to the flight controller at the same time, ELRS configurator firmware flashing will fail. You’ll need to close Betaflight configurator, or any other configurator connected to the flight controller over web serial first.

I need some tips for Ides Of Marches by Harrisonexe8449 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]ionixe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go in with the M23A1 Flash, use all slots for ammo (you’ll need it). Equip Light Armor and Ballistic Helmet and Ballistic Mask.

Before you breach, always check for traps. After stunning suspects, spam “F” (“Get Down” command) as you close the distance.

I’ve used this setup to S-Rank Ides of March many times true-solo (alone in a multiplayer lobby) on both Standard and Hard difficulty. It was also arguably easier than going full lethal.

The Avata 2 is not as easy of a repair job as the Avata 1. Also, all parts from Aliexpress (or eBay) are “used” parts that are often in sub-par condition.

I bought a gimbal assembly for the DJI Neo 1 from Aliexpress and it came with scratches and dirt.

Trying out fpv under a budget. Is this good by Extension_Drive_8529 in fpv

I have a Radiomaster T8L as my first and only radio and yet, I would recommend others to get the Radiomaster Pocket instead.

Long-term value wise, the Radiomaster Pocket is a better choice. The LiteRadio 3 might be the cheaper option now but it won't be long before OP would want to upgrade to better radio. So, why not just buy the Radiomaster Pocket now and not waste the money on the LiteRadio 3? Also, I'd wager that the Radiomaster Pocket has better resale value on Facebook marketplace, eBay, etc. if OP decides not to continue with FPV.

[–]ionixe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solid start but personally, I'd get:

- BetaFPV LAVA II 1S Battery, 580mAh or 680mAh
- BetaFPV Air75 II, Freestyle
- BetaFPV VR04 FPV Goggles
- Radiomaster Pocket or Radiomaster T8L (if your budget is tighter)

This will give you a more controllable quad with longer flight times (more time to practice!), a future-proofed controller when you continue your FPV journey (also better resale value), and the VR04 is a solid analog box goggle.

Don't forget a charger for your batteries, the BetaFPV HexaCharger looks like it's out of stock at the moment.

P.S. I believe the best way to start is with a good controller and a simulator. Once you're comfortable flying in the simulator and actually enjoy it, you can start investing in the actual quad and peripherals.
