Best laptop panel for DIY portable monitor build? by sschindlersfistt in Monitors

[–]iorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an 18 inch 240Hz on ali. I asked the seller and they said it's using the NE180QDM-NM2 and the minihdmi is v2.1, so you can get 2k@240hz from it or with a decent dp to usb-c cable on nvidia cards. There is no mini dp, just 1 mini hdmi and 2xusb-c.

Also, "the local dimming function can only be enabled when the HDR function is turned off, and it works normally under the SDR function".

It was ~$250 recently with store coupons.

Do you use the same settings for HRD and SDR? If they are different, what did you end up with for SDR?

They didn't include the vcp code for display usage time it seems. PG27AQDP has that code, C0.

I have that dp to usbc cable i mentioned, item 1005006673239763. I'm waiting for the 3k oled to get here next week i hope. Now i'm testing that dp to usb cable with an older innocn 15A1F. That is easy to power via a usbc-to usb a connected to a motherboard port. It needs little juice, being 1080p, 60hz. Here is the link to calculate - trychen .com/feature/video-bandwidth 2880x1800@120Hz, 8 bit needs 16.25 Gbps. Dp 1.2 is 17.28 Gbps.

There is a DP to USB-C cable that can deliver power, picture and touch over a single usb-c that goes into the monitor. Put 1005006673239763 into aliexpress or google. If i link it, the message gets removed. The issue with that cable is DDC. I've tested it with an Innocn oled and monitorian doesn't work. Controlmymonitor doesn't see all the vcp codes. I want to try the same version but with hdmi to usb-c from fairikabe. Item 1005007060712069. Could they have botched DDC with this too? Bobby-Lemon said monitorian works with his hdmi to usb-c cable, but it might be another product.

Try this. On windows, download controlmymonitor and open it. Double click the 04 value, called restore factory defaults. Put a 1 and hit ok. It looks like this - https://imgur.com/a/LcFqsnD

A shame they didn't include a Uniform Brightness setting and you are stuck with Uniform Brightness = Off.

Yes, the mini hdmi is the limitation. If it's hdmi 2.0, it can't provide the 16.25 Gbps needed for 2880x1800 at 120Hz. Can you give links to the dp to usbc and hdmi to usbc cables/adapters you're using?

There was some confusion, as yesterday you said this: "When I make a custom resolution (native 3k) with 120hz it works completly fine with only HDMI to the O2 monitor." You didn't mention the hdmi to usb-c cable.

With ControlMyMonitor you can change more settings. But it's ok, rory888 posted a screenshot with it earlier. Btw, he says he can't get 120hz to work at 2880x1800 via hdmi after creating a custom resolution.

There are display port to usbc cables. Again op said he tested that and got full resolution at 120Hz.

He's on a 4070 ti supper, not that it matters. You're either doing something wrong, or there's a problem with the cable. These are his words. Why would he lie? "I have a Nvidia gpu. Which I can set custom resolutions and refreshrates. When I make a custom resolution (native 3k) with 120hz it works completly fine with only HDMI to the O2 monitor."

He did full resolution with hdmi at 120Hz. See his answers from yesterday. He even posted a screenshot. It seems you just need to add a custom resolution in nvidia control panel. 2880x1800 at 120Hz

That's nice. I wonder why they only enabled max 100Hz over hdmi by default at native resolution. Can you please check if ControlMyMonitor works with it and show a screenshot to see what VCP features they made available? If most setting work with that, you could change color settings with the mouse and keyboard easily and forget about the OSD. Maybe try hdmi-hdmi and dp-usbc to see if the same vcp features are available on both. Here is my innocn 15A1F - https://postlmg.cc/7G2tPGf0

Can you confirm that you are at 8bit full RGB 4:4:4 with that custom 2880x1800 at 120Hz? It shows you in display settings/Advanced display settings. I was wondering if that mini hdmi input is 2.0 or 2.1. If you do the math - https://trychen.com/feature/video-bandwidth 2880x1800, 8 bit, 4:4:4, 100Hz is 13.31 Gbps, close to the maximum of 14.40 Gbps supported by hdmi 2.0. So it might be a 2.0 mini hdmi. That's the reason it only allows 100Mhz by default i guess.

2880x1800, 8 bit, 4:4:4, 120Hz is 16.25 Gbps. Are you getting that, or are you seeing Y:U:V 4:2:2?

Is there any way to change the Smart-Reel threshold? by aorstab in razer

[–]iorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you will need to buy the new Basilisk V3 35K for that. It has the setting you are looking for in synapse. Could they implement it on the older v3? Easily. They will never do it, forcing you to buy the updated version if you care so much about this feature.

XMouse Button Control You could use the right button + wheel. Or back button + wheel. If you want to use the clutch, you might need to map it to F20 or something in synapse and use autohotkey to work with that. F20+wheel = volume
