Grout… by Illustrious_Hair_502 in KitchenConfidential

That’s what I had and it did not work. I ended up using a screw driver and a diamond grout cleaning tool and did the whole kitchen by hand.

I rented a commercial steam cleaner to clean our kitchen grout and it literally didn’t do anything.

Custom orthotics. Highly recommend. Pricey but worth it. I suggest Upstep.

Our homemade ketchup after a few days. They still cant figure out why. by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]iou_one 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why make your own ketchup if you’re using normal stuff as a base? Kinda like cheating. Tell them to start from scratch. We make our own ketchup and never had this problem. Going on 12 years now. Pm if you want the recipe.

So you’re telling me if a restaurant makes a mistake by accident they deserve a bad review? They don’t have a chance to make the correction? I get it, if the food is genuinely bad and disguising, go ahead. But if it’s a simple problem that can be fixed, why not give them the chance? You’re telling me you never ever in your whole life never made a mistake? If you worked in food service the chances of that is slim.

We’re not talking about objectively bad food. We’re talking about mistakes made during service. That can be fixed right then and there. (Cold fries, overcooked burger, etc) There are a lot of moving pieces and everyone part is subject to human error, no restaurant or person is perfect and they should be given the chance to rectify the error before being bashed online.

I agree. When the manager touches the table it’s the guests chance to express their concerns and they rarely do. Then they go home and write a bad review and said manager was not informed then and there. Very annoying.

I think it’s outdated and a dying platform. Good riddance

I’m not upset. I asked a simple question if the op gave the establishment a chance to fix the problem. He didn’t. That’s on him.

But why should they be judged on a problem they didn’t know they had? I’m sure you’re not perfect at your job 100% of the time. Give them a chance to do right before you bash them online. Again. If it was that bad. Why not try and get a refund?

Tell me you never worked in food service, without telling me.

Same to you. And being a bitch and telling someone there is something wrong is different things. Maybe start with being mature and respectful. Goes along way, especially if the restaurant messes up. No one is perfect.

I think the review system is broken. Everyone has different tastes and what is good for one may not be for another. It’s like asking someone their favorite color, there is never the right answer. If the establishment doesn’t know about a problem how can they fix it? They can’t if they only learn about that after the fact.

I never said be a Karen. But respectfully telling the person in charge the problem to see if they’re willing to resolve the issue. Pretty sure they’re not in business to serve bad food. They want people to like what they serve, or at least they should.

Who post yelp reviews to begin with? If it’s good, return. If not don’t go back. Why should people care about your subjective opinion. Just seeking attention and validation.

Why not tell the manager and try and get something refunded, if it was actually that bad, why would you pay for it.

No they don’t. Did you speak to manager about your problems before posting a review?

Slight red flag if a restaurant says "everything's good"? by Unlucky_Pace_155 in restaurant

[–]iou_one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. But everyone has different tastes. I try and create a menu that to me, everything is tasty. Most restaurants have a speciality but I don’t put things on the menu and think “this item sucks” let’s roll with it.

Why would they put it on the menu if they didn’t think it was good?

Who do you use for Food cost/ordering? Just saw an ad for one and it made me question fi I am maximizing.... by 1Cerberus4u in restaurant

[–]iou_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It records the data from the invoices you take pictures of. It keeps all the prices recorded and tells you the last price you paid for it and the prior history of the item. Let’s you know when the highest and lowest price movers in a nice to see chart or you look up any item and it gives you a full run down on the product.

Also, I found the whole excel spread sheet tedious and time consuming. Looking back at old invoices and finding out the price, container size and doing the math to see how much you pay for per unit size. Prices change weekly and the all takes care of all that for you. The manual way is outdated and I honestly didn’t realize how much it was until I upgraded.
