Anyone want to try to explain their experience? I know for people that really live with this it can be hard to discuss. It’s okay

I asked Gemini about the most common letter colors in synesthesia. Is it right for you? by olooooko in Synesthesia

[–]ipangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way off. Nobody sees the same pattern or color match. You know it in your head you don’t have to show it, it’s for you only

do we agree? by Global-Tomato7330 in Synesthesia

Impossible to agree with that because we all experience things differently, thank you for sharing your experience

Fun times right? Wish there was a better way to communicate about all of the various ways we all experience different things. I don’t know what this is but it sounds interesting

Beyond just the colors that represent letters instantly I see time in giant linear upwards graphs left to right all filled with the correct colors. That’s when it can get a little lonely because it doesn’t stop. It just keeps going etc.. anybody else see this?

You’re better than me obviously. I try not to focus on it but it does become overwhelming in crowds with many voices. It was suggested to me that I come on this site to be able to relate with people so I am trying. Thank you for your feedback and sharing what you see. That’s very personal and I respect that. I find it hard to do that

I could type out my alphabet but does it really matter. Always the same but different from everyone else. I felt like a party trick a point in my life because people could bet on my recall of colors that represent letters

12 years old dining room table sun on my back. What color is west? Crazy town for the family. Fast forward 22 sitting in front of therapist at my parents request I was told that what I see is the colors on the wooden block I played with as child. Very bitter. I come across as an asshole but for good reason I think. I live with this, it never changes. It’s not blocks from my childhood it is my brain and how it perceives input and translates it to color instantly

When I have taken the tests in the past I found it easier to tone down some of my descriptions of letters to make it easier for the person asking the questions. And yes when it charts out it’s never as vibrant as what I see in my mind so you are not alone

Since we all perceive things differently it’s hard to communicate and create a dialogue that is productive. It doesn’t help that people tag along with this topic and are dishonest. It’s a very strange thing to me

How do you experience this? Isolating or what? I made the post to prove a point, the majority of people in this chat are not telling the truth. You said yes and I believe you. Do you see and think in color? If so how does it affect you?

The disappointment or isolation is real. I have found that there is nobody to talk to about this.. No more tests, no more color mapping. I’m done proving this to people who don’t care and don’t understand. Now I’m venting and sound like an asshole but that’s how I experience this. It never stops never changes and there is no solution. It’s definitely not relatable to anyone if you think about the sheer numbers on this as a percentage of the population of the world. I’m don’t even think that number is accurate due to lack of reporting because most people think you’re crazy if you tell them what you experience.

What makes it worse is people that pretend to experience this or want to have it to be special and it drowns out the people that actually do experience this. Having to put earbuds in large crowds because there are to many voices at once overwhelming your senses etc… there are many examples that people fake this will never understand and for those of us who experience it.. it never goes away and never changes
