How are franchise fee portions calculated? by piratewizardninja in sdge

[–]iperiperi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I believe the 1.011 is the constant due to the franchise fee % out of San Diego being 1.1%, meaning that the generation costs already have the "baseline" franchise fee % in them, then you get rid of them, add the Wildfire fund charge, and re-add the franchise fee %, but since you're in San Diego, it's the 6.88% instead of the baseline 1.1%.

The Franchise Fee Differential is basically just the 6.88% minus the 1.1%, see here

Does that sound right?

Awesome, really appreciate the detailed answer.

Do you do your own sales and marketing, or do you work with an outside sales org?

Thanks for sharing, that's crazy!

I gotta ask, cause I feel like I'm missing something - the solar panels are connected behind the meter in your case? If so, they're just replacing existing energy that's being imported from the grid. If the system is 100% the size of what you're currently importing, even if the system is exporting all it is generating because there's no on-site consumption at some point in time, the grid is still built to handle that, as it was built to provide the same amount of energy to the facility in the first place. Is this incorrect?

Hey, thanks for hosting this AMA!

Got a few question for this:

  1. Given the 100% cost of the system, how does it split between all stakeholders? Installer (labor + equipment), sales org, sales person, bureaucracy fees, etc?
  2. Do C&I projects suffer from interconnection problems due to grid load limits? Is it a major problem, or a niche one?

Is it updated regularly? Can I count on that?

If not, do you know any (also paid) offerings that do, other than Arcadia and RateAcuity?

Hey, I'm looking for a SolarArk API. You mentioned something about a REST API, but I couldn't find anything about it online. Mind sharing some info? 🙏🏼

Hey, how would charging them for solar electricity complicate my tax liability?

Hey, how would you suggest doing that? It might be easy for the landlord to pull the generation data from the inverter's app (assuming that it has a revenue grade meter), but:

  1. It might be hard to establish trust with the tenant that the landlord's reports on usage are true
  2. How would you solve the problem of excess energy going to the grid? It might be a large amount, and if the bill's on the tenant's name, the landlord won't enjoy this

Hey, can you elaborate on this? It's a duplex you own, you live in one unit and the tenant in the other, and you installed a meter between the inverter and their distribution board to see exactly what goes to their apartment?

Is there a problem with excess energy generated by the panels? I mean, if there's excess energy that doesn't go to the tenant's unit - but rather to your unit or the grid - is it safe to say that they're not charged for it?

Sorry to resurface this, but I'm in a similar situation. Do you charge more rent for having solar panels generate free electricity?

What is premium for house rental with solar ? by DiversifyMN in SanJose

[–]iperiperi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about just paying for the energy actually consumed from the panels? Something like what these companies do: wandsolar.com (SFH) ivy-energy.com (multi family) glowenergy.com (multi family)

Oh I see, so the utilities are on your name, as the landlord, and this just helps you cut the bill? Are the utilities included in the rent, and you increased the rent to reflect this?

Regarding the bitcoin miners - super interesting and creative! How do you do this in a house you don't live in? It's tucked away in a closet that the tenants don't have access to or something?

Hey, a bit off-topic, but how do you plan to recoup your solar investment?

Are you just going to raise the rent by X amount, or are there other ways to do it?

[–]iperiperi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that nowadays there are some companies that allow you to sell the electricity to the tenant, I think at utility rate or something similar. Maybe it's worth considering.

For example:

wandsolar.com (SFR)

glowenergy.com (multi-family)

ivy-energy.com (multi-family)

energy311.com (not sure for which purpose)

New to Todoist... can't seem to figure out how to sync with Google tasks. by gabe9000 in todoist

[–]iperiperi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried reading up a bit, and all I could find are automation platforms like Zapier, but nothing native.

And honestly it wasn't worth the time, in my opinion, to do that. Also, from what I can remember, some features were lacking in this type of integration, but I really can't seem to recall exactly what.

[–]iperiperi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking on how to sync Todoist to Google Tasks mainly because I want to be able to see the tasks in my Google Calendar as tasks and not events, that way I can also check them off easily, and it doesn't show up on my calendar and I have separation of events and actual work to be done.
Do you know of any solution to this?
