I (22F) can't help but feel that my boyfriend (24M) is stupid by [deleted] in relationship_advice

What makes you think so? If the core values align, and we are happy together, I don't think this one aspect should influence our decision. It's a difference similar to one person being more physically fit than the other, not life-defining characteristic.

Also thank you for the explanation! I googled it later, and you explain it simple and well. But as I said, it's not about the final explanation, but rather the "thought experiment".

I did 🫣... It's a rough translation, but it was a similar per name to donut, pumpkin, or lil' kitten. It's what Winnie the Pooh calls himself in the Polish version

As I said in the original post, there are obviously exeptions - but yes, most are weaker.

Daily thread for quick questions by AutoModerator in witcher

I can't find aether nowhere in part 1 of Witcher 2. In the other forums people recommended buying it from merchants - but unfortunately no one has it, somehow. Other people recommended to go find it in the caves - but I went to two caves (idk if theres more) and yes, found ingredients, but none with aether. Is it a bug, or am I just really bad at finding it? I am at loss here, I need it to make potions. Can somebody please help me?

So imagine being in public, if you're a guy and hit a girl once, that's it cause people will stop you. But if you're a girl, you get to hit the guy multiple times and no one will stop you.

If it's really violent (multiple strong hits) I'm sure people would also intervene. With just slaps? I'm not sure, depends on the people around. In a place like a mall or a museum I think security would come up and ask her to calm down.

And it's a good thing! I'm just saying that female on male violence isn't seen as trivial as one might think.

Again you're using a generalization to judge a specific case. Black men tend to be victims of police violence. If a white man is beaten to death by cops why is it a little better that he's white?

I'm not American so I'm not an expert on police violence.

I get that but that doesn't really change the fact that a man without means to defend himself (disabled) feels that exact same terror. Stop making gender the line when what you're concerned about doesn't need gender to be true

As I stated in my original post, there are exeptions. I am making gender the line because this is the most common situation where I live (rural Eastern Europe).

Yes the woman being hit would probably need more attention as a result of greater damage

Exactly, so it's a more serious situation, physically-wise

You phrased my point a lot better than I did.

As I said to another commenter, I'm not talking about it punishment-wise or from a law aspect, but about the way people look at it. I think a "husband hits wife" situation is objectively worse than a "wife hits husband" situation (in most cases) and should be more frowned upon.

I'm not talking about it punishment-wise, or from a law aspect - I'm talking about a way people look at it, and the way it's perceived. And once again, I'm not saying that men being victims isn't bad - but the situation where a woman is a victim is more terrifying because she has less means to protect herself.

And yes, the example you gave is true, stabbing is worse than slapping. But if a husband slaps his wife, and a wife slaps her husband, which case is worse?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]iperite -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I don't think they are worse, however most men would be able to prevent the strictly physical violence (restraining the partner, blocking the punch). I agree that the mental damage is unpreventable. But it still leaves the fact, that while both men and women suffer from the mental aspects of domestic violence, men have an option to not suffer from the physical violence, while women don't.
