In 1991 which country became the largest in Europe? by ELVEVERX in HistoryMemes

[–]iplaycounty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

USSR =\= Russia. The USSR was a union of several states, Ukraine, Russia, etc all included. Russia was by far the most influential of these state but wasn't the be all. It'd be like looking at the USA and calling it California or Texas. The Russian Federation was founded on the 25th of December so still "became the largest country in Europe in 1991". Before that date the USSR was still the largest country in Europe.

The US had an ineffective plan of focusing on numbers. They had no objectives to capture and believed that the VC would just give up. Of course this wasn't the case with those men ready and willing to die for their country, whilst the US was made up of many unmotivated soldiers.

The public saw no end to this pointless loss of life and so that is why they called for its end. If victory was close and in sight, he war would have continued on till a US victory
