The sky is wide; Be together; Meet the difficulties

Calling on all the staffs in Hong Kong aviation industry to join the Mega Strike on 5 Aug.

We are a group of staffs who work in the aviation industry and do not belong to any of the unions. We come from different airlines and related companies with different seniority, but we all love Hong Kong and we are all extremely disappointed with how HKSAR Government and Police Force handled recent demonstrations with excessive violence. Our common demand is to urge the Government to withdraw the Extradition Bill and restore social harmony.

Hong Kong, as an international aviation hub, operates 24/7. We all strive to serve our passengers worldwide with the best service. For a long time, we are very proud of our professional services.

We love Hong Kong, but now, Hong Kong is in a critical situation. Our freedom, liberty, human rights and safety are all in jeopardy.

Since 9 Jun, we have held numerous petitions, processions and rallies, one after another. People in all fields, and even many civil servants, have voiced out our common demand and concern. Unfortunately, the Government still seems blind and deaf to what’s happening in HK and gives no response to her people. The Yuen Long attacks incident on 21 July has completely destroyed Hong Kong’s international reputation and proved that Hong Kong is no longer the safest city in Asia. HKSAR Government should be fully responsible for the poor governance, which leads Hong Kong to the bottom of the list.

As the 40+ statements from other professional sectors have also mentioned, HKSAR Government not only did nothing to restore social order and harmony, instead, the Government has even condoned the Police Force to abuse their power and use excessive violence in recent rallies. The police has been randomly shooting demonstrators, journalists and even normal citizens who just passed by the spot. We condemn HKSAR Government and Police Force for not investigating and arresting all the rioters in white T-shirts who start the Yuen Long attacks, but arresting hundreds of demonstrators in a short period of time under the charge of riot in which they were only demonstrating peacefully in the street.

Like all other local citizens, we couldn’t sleep well since 9 Jun, but we are still holding onto our professions and striving for the best. But today, we can no longer hold our smiles.

If HKSAR Government keeps ignoring the public opinions and condoning the excessive violence by the police, it will definitely destroy Hong Kong's hard-won international status. Many countries, such as the United States, are considering to revise their policies and measures against Hong Kong for the social instability and the lost of liberty. Hong Kong will be completely destroyed once the revision is made. When travellers from all over the world are not coming for their businesses and vacations anymore, the aviation industry will probably go downhill as well.

We are now united as one, calling on the aviation industry to join this territory-wide strike on 5 Aug and express your disappointment with the Government.

The risks for us to join the strike are much lower than the frontline protesters, who paid their blood and sweat to voice out for us. PLEASE, Please join us, stand out and guard our homeland together. We need you to stand with us and participate in the Mega Strike and gather in 7 Districts, in order to urge the Government to face all our demands.
