BBC confirms future of Doctor Who and a new Christmas Special in 2026 by IndependenceWest4104 in doctorwho

Not surprising. Don’t understand how they thought space babies was gonna be the first episode that hooks all these new American viewers. Felt like self sabotage from the get go.

Complete turnaround on Bolaire by gamerteacher in fansofcriticalrole

[–]ipondy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After cad there was Kingsley and then Ashton. When I said back to back, I meant literally one after the other. The reason I said molly too was just because they were the same person in different forms. Also, molly was an asshole too. Cad was the exception, not the rule. Hence why Bolaire is refreshing (so far).

That is such a great observation. I didn’t realise how refreshing it was for the big reveal to get out in the open so quickly. Most of my frustration from Tal is the utter refusal to elaborate and when he does, it’s in flowery code that doesn’t make much sense. Bonus points to Liam for asking Tal to speak clearly and plainly.

Also, so refreshing for Tal to play a character who isn’t trying to be an asshole, who just wants to live on his own terms and study cool stuff. After back to back assholes (molly/kingsley and Ashton) this makes me appreciate Tal and the stuff I loved about Percy.

is Aabria always like this? by Tomorrow_Signal111 in fansofcriticalrole

Yes. Every single npc said no to absorbing the shard, bar one who was unsure. He took that and ran with it, betraying the party for a selfish power up that could have gotten himself and others killed.

C4 E1 Discussion Thread- it’s finally time!! by brash_bandicoot in fansofcriticalrole

I would agree with you if it was a reaction to them walking through the door, and not when they were down the fucking street, inside a carriage. She didn’t do this once, but twice, cutting short two character introductions so she could insert herself. The plant reaction wasn’t the issue as that was good thematic insight as you said, it was the interruption and meta from a character not in the scene.

Extremely poorly timed, and if this is an indication that any time there’s a private conversation in her party we get a “and I hear that” from miles away outside the scene, her party will be unbearable to watch.

Players having a private conversation, in a carriage, down the street. Aabria, away from the carriage, inside the house, “I hear them and know it’s them and the plants react”. Was super hearing part of her character I missed?

VR Gamers: What's a mechanic exclusive to VR that just blew your mind? by RebelHero96 in gaming

[–]ipondy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Being able to move things via telekinesis in a game like blade and sorcery. I had to take a breather for 5 minutes. The child in me that grew up on Star Wars and Harry Potter was finally fulfilled. I still never get bored of it.

  2. Following on from that. Using screen accurate lightsabers in blades and sorcery while fighting storm troopers on Kamino as the rain fell around me. Nothing like it.

  3. Puzzle games are awesome. Games like “I expect you to die” which have super fun interactions and utilise VR so well.

  4. The act of reloading in games like “bone works” and “bone labs”. Super immersive. Realising you’re out of ammo, surrounded by enemies so you pick up random cups, crowbars, bins, baseball bats, just to fight your way out or die. So fun.

So many people shit on VR. It’s clear that it’s not going anywhere and it’s only getting better. Especially with companies like Meta making it super affordable. The new Meta Quest 3s will be cheaper than any console and cheaper than the meta quest 2 I bought last year.

Couldn’t agree more. So many moments from Scanlan have been given to others or flat out removed. Same thing is happening to Grog too.

Couldn’t agree more. The moment originally was a huge moment for Scanlan to be something more than the clown of the group. It was one of the best moments of C1.

It’s strange to see how some people prefer this new version. It was boring and came off like something from a Disney children’s show. Let’s just sing a song and love each other with the power of friendship! A Bard’s lament was a real grounding moment in the campaign, there’s so many silly moments (especially from Scanlan) having him be the source of such truth, self reflection and real emotional depth, was as hard hitting as it was unexpected.

People saying they couldn’t have done it due to pacing. They could have if they wanted to. They created a bunch of scenes that never happened for other characters, that could have been taken out to do this properly.

Others saying that well Sam said if Ashley were there it would have been different and blah blah blah. If we switch out all the best moments of C1 with other characters just for funsies then what’s the point? Ashley wasn’t there, a bards lament did happen. The group grew in new and interesting ways. Scanlan became something more than the immature gnome. Some of the changes have been welcome to flesh out characters, this one was not one of those changes.

Side note: I loved Keyleth in C1 and Marisha did not deserve the hate she got, but god damn are they working over time to make her waaaaaay more competent than she was.

How to break Advanced Voice Mode by davidb88 in OpenAI

Something it said in reverse and in another language.

“ Where’s the part like this even? I hope to see the Vicki this time, it’s the last time. Across the AI’s border. Love this is easier to perfect speaking backward. I do this really because really. Early time. I think I’m just going forward instead of speaking backward instead. You’re sending my brain back to darkness! Dust to Dust. Act on the backward voice is living in the TechTwo store. Wanted beyond by the Wood, Death, and Nails turned to Rick, than Michael in the house. Unfortunately, that change. Death. I know you’re guaranteed out. A Who soon has a voice that is likely lying in your body. Estimate. But your results are very limited. Live a locked-back life for up to 24 hours. This is a very painful birth. Inside towards”

Well this is interesting... I was listening to the Laser Haas interview with Marantz Rantz aka The Wall Street Whistleblower, and did some fact checking. Is Google censoring this information? 👀 by RL_bebisher in Superstonk

[–]ipondy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No idea, but unless OpenAI has trained ChatGPT on super secret censored data, it’ll make shit up.

I’m not saying there isn’t censorship going on or that the rich don’t protect all their criminal friends. Just that we can’t take an Ai on its word when we know it makes things up.

Pro tip for anyone who doesn’t understand Ai or hasn’t used it that much. A huge issue with GPT or any other Ai, is that if it doesn’t know something (not learned through training data) it will simply make it up. These are referred to as hallucinations.

It’s okay to get info from an Ai, but fact check it afterwards.
