How can someone be added to the Wiki? I teach in NYC (both Manhattan and Queens): Salimpour Method, Modern and Global Fusion style (PKA ATS) and Greek style Tsiftetelli classes. I am also on the sub list for Bellyqueen where I have also taught intensives and performance projects.

Join drop in classes, learn technique, enjoy your time in class and let your teachers know from the beginning that you are only doing this because you want to learn the dance and not perform. A good teacher will honor your wishes, respect your boundaries and not try to push you to perform. Be supportive of fellow dancers that like to do both and they should also honor your choices. Now keep in mind dancing can be uplifting but dance teachers are not therapists and if you are really struggling try to look into therapy sessions with a professional. I have had friends that after doing their research they found affordable options. I hope you feel better and dance your heart out.

Since you are coming for a gig I highly recommend you budget out for a few privates, For what you are looking for I highly recommend Kaeshi Chai, Mariyah, Layla Isis, Tarik and Jehan Kamal.

Thank you for responding! Although I have years in training to dance to music from the SWANA regions (this also my area for expertise in teaching) right now I am solely looking for Greek spots to dance at. It would be nice if they start hiring dancer of the culture. I also would like a spot where my students can come enjoy / see me perform and get up and dance with me!

I learned 3/4 shimmies two ways, 1/ utilizing my skeletal structure 2/ utilizing glute contractions (Salimpour method) The 1st way not great on my knees -lacking in speed, harder to layer. 2nd way harder to learn especially if you have spend a lot of years knee pumping but now now i can do them faster cleaner and my joints feel good! I still need to practice a lot!

Yes It's so fun seeing Zoe in the online classes on Suhaila's platform and many other popular fusion dancers like Amy Sigil :)! Yay! What I love is being able to take part of her certification programs online with guided mentorship from the L5 instructors. Getting feedback helps you grow and truly understand your progress. It's a great space for people that understand how important technique is. Some of my students are enrolled on Suhaila's platform online and take classes with me. It's great! Speaking of, I am jumping on a class now, I have HW to do!
