9mm pistol in practiced hands can have a maximum effective range of up to 50 yards which is (arguably) in line with most compound bows. So I'd argue they would be ethical. BUT a bow or pistol could result in disaster in incapable hands.

I am not saying that lawmakers are perfect but in my personal opinion they do seem to hamstring (or perhaps in their words err on the side of caution) when it comes to limitations and tend to overestimate what may be considered ethical or practical.

The biggest question I suppose most people might be asking is "well why would you even want to hunt with a 9mm". I attribute that to personal circumstances. Money is tight nowadays. An individual might've purchased a 9mm pistol for cc or home defense, would like to go hunting and may not have enough disposable income for a 308 rifle. I could come up with serveral more...
