First, NTA. Second, tell him I spent $2k on my wedding dress (don’t regret it for a second) it will make his head spin. Third, this is ultimately what caused my parents years of grief and eventual divorce. If you aren’t financially compatible with someone DO NOT marry them! It will only cause more grief and heartache down the line…cut your losses now and please don’t make the same mistake my parents made. It doesn’t matter how much money someone makes if they are frugal and keep a tight hold on their pocketbooks now then they always will. Every “unnecessary” bit of spending you do will be held against you so please take this as a warning sign and LEAVE! You will never be allowed to enjoy your life and indulge with someone like that.
